It plays fine with 2! Takes a little longer to get through the deck and makes passing a little more difficult... though I am fairly certain the kickstarter version will have a "pass" card for your hand. I received a promotional copy before they made the change.
Regardless, this is a great game!! Tons of fun and easy to teach and play.

We're still completing the pdf for the 2 player variant, but here are the basic changes: (The 2 player game will work with the 3 to 5 player rules, but it's not as fun as this versions)

Both players will start with an additional 3 and 4 virus cards in their hands. So they'll have 1,2,3,3,4,4,5,6 in their starting hand. Then you'll flip face up FOUR viral component cards rather than just two. Each player will play one Virus card as normal, and then each player will choose which viral component card they want, so there will be only 2 viral components cards left. Then each player will play another Virus Card from their hand to determine who chooses first from the last two cards.

With the bonus cards, only one will be available at a time. The four bonus cards will be shuffled and one removed and put back into the box. Then one of the three remaining is revealed and the other two stay face down. Once the reveal bonus card is taken the next one is revealed once the next set of Viral Component Cards are revealed. Only one Bonus Card may be taken per round.
