"Five cents, please," his front door said when he tried to open it. The toll door had an innate stubborness to it... UBIK

Just noticed that there has not been a new Beatnik Coffee House thread since 7/1/16. Don't want it to die!

So, I invoke the spirit of Dobie Gillis to prevent this disaster.

So the question I pose is: Are you a Dobie Gillis, or a Maynard G. Krebs?

Or are you just lost and confused?

cool How about this? Just last weekend 'moi' purchased the 1990 release, for the 3-CD Audio recordings of "Jack Kerouac"-poetry and these were ALL 'pristine' appearing, without any form or manner of scratches, blemishes, or fingerprints and what-not! surprise

I would pay good money for a book of Jack Kerouac poetry written GROGnads style.

thumbsupcool To Harpo Marx:

O Harpo! When did you seem like an angel
the last time?
and played the gray harp of gold?

When did you steal the silverware
and bug-spray the guests?

When did your brother find rain
in you sunny courtyard?

When did you chase your last blonde
across the Millionaires' lawn
with a bait hook on a line
protruding from your bicycle?

Or when last you powderpuffed
your white flour face
with fishbarrel cover?

Harpo! Who was that Lion
I saw you with?

How did you treat the midget
and Konk the Giant?

Harpo, in your recent nightclub appearance
in New Orleans were you old?
were you still chiding with your horn
in the cane at your golden belt?

Did you still emerge from your pockets
another Harpo, or screw on
new wrists?

Was your vow of silence an Indian Harp?

From there: Jack Kerouac Poems Now, 'moi' certainly could 'reproduce' this with 'accompanying affectations', while a much better means, or method of 'poetical paeans propitiate' would become an accompaniment of THIS, such as with: "To Zeppo Marx"; or: "Too Chico Marx"; etc. eh?

At church, I played the bongos for many years and was affectionately referred to as Maynard G. Krebs by a beloved church lady rest her soul. I guess I looked like a hippy Gilligan on the bongos.
