Quick question about the Ibex Standard that could apply to any weapon with similar damage boost conditions. The weapon has a base ammo cost of 10 which gives you 10 damage. It says you can pay 20 ammo to boost the damage by 10. Does this mean in order to do the 20 damage, you would pay 30 ammo (base 10 ammo + 20 extra ammo), or would you simply follow the card text literally and pay 20 ammo to do 20 damage? Thanks.

It's on top of. Exploring sequence:

"2) Move any weapons that your character will be using from your hand to your play area. Each weapon can only be used once, unless an effect states otherwise (CH-002 level 2 ability)
3) Pay the ammo requirement on the weapons you moved in step 2. To do this, you should have played ammunition cards/action cards/etc prior to step 1 to generate ammo. Designate the amount of ammo each weapon your character is using. That ammo is consumed once you move to step 4.
4) Total up the amount of damage your character is dealing by adding in the following order: Weapon damage, Character damage, any existential effects.
5) If any weapons being used have effects or any effects that occur when your character explores occur at this moment, in any order you wish."

You get ammo drain in step 3 to actually be able to use the weapon, then you also have step 5 for any extra effects like the Ibex, which can be used with 10 ammo for 10 dmg or 30 ammo for 20 dmg. Before you can use the text of a weapon, you need to have it active by allocating the ammo req worth of ammo to it (which could be higher or lower than the printed number depending on abilities).
