Alabama. He takes his name from an ancient champion, or so he believes.

Love it. Richard will there ever be a book or PDF released talking about the lore of this game? Character and location backgrounds, etc.

I guess that depends on how well it sells and if the publisher is interested. I would like to do a book with more scenarios and the background of each character and leader could become part if that. Time will tell.

If Jason is willing to test the waters with a small Kickstarter project I would definitely back it.

I would also be willing to buy additional heroes. Since cost of mini production could be prohibitive, I would gladly pay for the character cards only and we can reuse the existing minis or use proxies.

Would also give you a chance to sell a revised rulebook with any errata being updated (and possibly a card pack with any errata fixed on those as well).

I would certainly back, and go in for a revised edition if there was one, in some form.

I understand business is business but please please allow for expansion's and fleshing out this story. Your other games are fantastic (particularly Agents of Smersh) with great expansions. Would love to see that here as well.

Do you need more card ideas for the D&D Adventure System games?

I'm a fan of "FixStarters" myself; but I realize I'm in the minority as some customers shriek about getting things right the first time and the injustice of having to buy the "same thing" twice.

At this point, it's up to the people who haven't bought Defenders of the Last Stand yet to make future releases a reality buy selling out the first edition. One thing we can do as current fans is to behave politely when disagreements arise; otherwise the abuse might lead Jason to pass on future DOLTS projects that are close-to or slightly-above break even.

I like the idea of releasing the extra Rangers without minis as an option, if that enables a quicker production of new content. It also stops any one complaining about the quality of the mini
A ranger pack bundled with a scenario pack, mission pack or adventure pack etc. and any errata cards/rules would be awesome

I too am willing to pay for professionally printed updated books and cards. Even Fantasy Flight charges for upgrade kits.

That said, I do also find it a nice gesture when updated rule books are offered for download as pdfs.

I think the Kickstarter should be run for printed products only, with a downloadable pdf available to everyone.

Jason will still run the chance that someone will shriek, but someone finding a reason to shriek seems the norm on Kickstarter today. It almost seems as if some people use shrieking as a form of entertainment... and yes there is a difference between legitimate complaints and shrieking/hounding.

I will make sure the revised rule book is posted as a PDF when we complete it. Jason has been too busy lately to address the revisions, but hopefully soon after Gencon we can make them and post the revised rule book along with an updated FAQ.

As far as the other things, I am not sure since Jason prefers to stop using KS for future projects. That means the sales of existing games must fund new projects, so I hope his portfolio of games sell well enough for him to do the Ranger expansions. I think the scenario and card expansions are more easily published (but I am not a publisher, so I do not know how hard they really may be to fund and publish without KS).

So, if it does well, I am optimistic that expansions (even those with new Rangers) may be published. I even hope the game does well enough for us to publish some new Raiders, like the Sky-Riders; A nomadic band that rules the skies (and often the land beneath) using gliders with their leader riding a mutated giant bat. Ah, lots of ideas...

Thanks for your interest and I will stay involved with making sure we do an updated rule book and post the FAQ once things settle down after Gencon. I am sure Jason will want to do this as well.

One option for Jason might be creating a web form on 8th Summit to collect potential pre-orders. Another possibility is extrapolating data from the existing list of Kickstarter backers; I'm sure there's some industry lore about the rate of sell-through for expansions vs. base game that might give him a relative idea (eg - 30% of all base game buyers buy the first expansion, etc.).

We played our first game last night and everyone loved it. I was unsure it would be popular since it can be a long game but the turns are fast enough everyone is engaged throughout. And being co-op we work together so that means everyone is strategizing as a group. We got our asses handed to us but we were ready to try again (but had to stop for dinner so the 2nd game didn't happen in the end). But we plan to do it again in the next few weeks.

I'm very glad to have the KS version with the 4 extra heroes. And I will say once you put paint on them they look much better. The soft bendy plastic doesn't look so great until you get some inking on them and then you notice the details. I'd have preferred hard plastic but these turned out fine.

I'd be in for further heroes, raiders, cards etc. I'd prefer minis if possible over standees since I love them. I was thinking another raider group might make things overwhelming or another solution is you always play with 4 and choose the raider groups from a larger set of choices.

Anyway, you can tell we had fun and will look forward to our next game. I wish the KS was more of a hit. A bit surprised about that but KS is weird and some games click with the masses while others don't. It's interesting 8th Summit doesn't want to do KS any longer. It's become such a big part of board game funding for small companies. But they are hard to run and planning stretch goals and a moving target on components makes it hard to estimate costs. Plus there's lots of support needed both during and after the campaign is complete. I co-ran one last year and it was a ton of work!

I think the minis are to blame for KS for this game being less popular than it should be. For me, they are fine, but many boardgamers, especially ones who often back games on KS got used to "plastic porn". Sometimes games rise huge amount of money, and there is no gameplay metioned on the page, just showing off sculpts. Better minis would up the price of this game, but I am sure that it would rise more money. Defenders are so great, that it should easily reach 500k.

Any expansion is an auto-buy for me.

But back on the OP's topic: I've always called him (O)bama, the same as the Ole-Bama Bridge location. It's good to find out he should be called (Ala)bama.

Now if I could just stop myself from saying "Road Raiders" instead of "Road Riders"...
