What coins would be appropriate to replace the cardboard ones? I really prefer metal coins because it adds an extra j'ne sais quoi to a game.

So far I've looked a a few different sets but none of them are jumping out at me.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I use the metal lira coins from Stonemaier games. The only problem is the lira go 1,2,5 instead of 1,3,5.

I proxy the Shakespeare coins with the metal coins from Orleans deluxe if you own that?! The Orleans coins are not thematic for either time period if that's what you're looking for tho.

Not the cheapest but if you're wanting historical flavor these are replicas of the period:

I don't own Orleans deluxe (yet) but I am looking for something that vaguely fits the time period. I will look into those though!

Those are a bit pricy- especially as I'd have to have at least two sets with lots of extras- but they certainly are nice! Thank you for the link!

Yes, I use those with a couple of BDGC renaissance coins for the 10 and 20 lira coins for Rokoko. (And Viticulture, of course!)But, as you say, the denominations are wrong.

I kickstarted https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/drawlab/legendary-metal...

Specifically for the metal unit coins which are in the correct denominations and don't look horrendously overdetailed.

Why is that a problem? (I really want to know, not being smart-ass)
