Ok peeps we're starting this game right now, but we are confused. The ship cards have a stat for maneuverability, but the board says Hull (toughness), then two lines down it says Masts (toughness). Is that a misprint? If not where do you mark maneuverability? Thanks!

The toughness of your ship dictates how much damage your hull and your masts can take. A man-o-war has toughness of five and thus would have masts and hull set at five. The lowly sloop has a toughness of two and would thus have only two points of masts and two points of hull.

The maneuverability of a ship dictates:
1. How difficult it is for merchant ships to escape you
2. Bonus die for seamanship if your ship's maneuverability is 2 or more greater than your opponent's ship.

Thus, you do not record your maneuverability. It's printed on your ship card. It cannot be reduced in combat. It can be increased by a ship mod (rigs & sails).

You don't mark maneuverability. It doesn't change.

No misprint (just non-intuitive).
