I am pleased to announce that John Alsen of St. Paul, Minnesota will be the Developer for the Last Hundred Yards. I was introduced to John by Gene Billingsley at ConsimWorld Event. John is an experience developer and has done several projects for GMT Games including the Great Battles of the American Civil War Series. I am really excited and looking forward to working with John on the project.

We have started the play test of the Last Hundred Yards. If anyone has an interest in play testing and would like to be part of the Last Hundred Yards Team they post here and I will put them in contact with John.

I continue to work on the game. I am currently working on a system for generating your own missions, i.e., a "Mission Generator". The size of the Mission and the number of defending and attacking Platoons is determined and agreed upon by the Players based on historical frontages. Maps, their orientation and the Defender’s friendly board edge are generated at random. Next, the players agree on the Mission Objective. Missions typically consist of Assaults where the attacking force must capture specific terrain features or hexes and an Advance Mission where the attacker must clear a specified Map sector of all enemy units. Once the Mission Objective has been determined, both players bid based on the Attacker's Final Score (Final Score = Elapsed Time (ET) +/- Casualty Points +/- any Mission Objective Points). The player with the lowest bid (Attackers Final Score) is the Attacker and the other player is the Defender. Example: If Player “A” bids 25 and Player “B” bids 30, Player “A” would be the the Attacker. The Attacker wins the Mission if the his Final Score is less than or equal to 25, draw if between 26 and 35 and the Defender wins if the Attacker’s Final Score is 36 or greater. Once the attacker is determined, both players purchase support and fortification (defender only) units. The defender sets first and the attacker enters play on the friendly board edge and play begins. We have played three small missions using the Mission Generator so for and it has worked well so for.
