Check out Stranger Things on Netflix. If you're a fan of the game, this 8 episode binge watch is well worth the price of admission.

+1 !!!!!

Also, Dungeons and Dragons (circa 1982) is referenced throughout. I really appreciated this series.

Just finished this myself and was coming here to post pretty much the same thing.
I really got an Arkham Horror / Lovecraft feel from it. Must have been heavily influenced from the lore surely.

Awesome show as well team. Well worth the watch.

Have watched the show and like it three episodes in.

But I did not get the Arkham vibe, but more the government experiments gone wrong vibe.
Maybe I need some more episodes?

Yeah more like X-Files and Spielberg than Lovecraft, but still a fun show.

Too bad the House of Cthulhu TV series never made it way back in 79

Didn't feel particularly cthulhu-y to me, X-Files, Aliens, Stand By Me, Twilight Zone, Twin Peaks and ET all came through though.

Here to say +1 to the OP. My girlfriend and I were both totally like, "These gates are like Arkham Horror!" (Via HPL, of course.) So cool. I'd love to see a full-fledged AH TV series. It'd be a blast.

Yeah, for me, the whole thing had way more of a Stephen King vibe than anything else. But, that's just my opinion....

Loved the show! Watched in three sittings!

The directors directly acknowledged Stephen King, Steven Spielberg and John Carpenter as their influences for the look and feel of the show. I didn't even know I needed this. Felt so good to revisit those atmospheres again. Movies and shows that come to mind: Stand by Me, Goonies, Twin Peaks, X-files, and IT. That being said, we all know that HP Lovecraft influenced people like Stephen King so it's only natural to see the influence there.

Agree with others...there is nothing Lovecraftian about the show but it's still really, really good. Also agree with it being a bit Stephen King-esque. What it most resembles to me so far is that movie Super 8.

Loved the show, the music, the cast/acting, the references to pretty much every single great 80s movie, and yeah, there's definite Lovecraftian vibes in the monster design, the gates, the Other World, and things beyond our ken. goo

Loved the show! Had a real '80s Stephen King made-for-TV vibe to it, which was great.

I thought it sort of a mashup of Freaks & Geeks and X-Files… but X-Files has a lot of Lovecraft.
