Data card SM-8A, covering squads, half-squads, and sections for the Soviet side, states in the "Defensive Information" block that the size for these units is "S/L" (which I believe is unique among the game's units). Does this mean that a Heavy Motor Rifle Squad is Large, while a regular Motor Rifle Squad or Section is Small, or that full squads are Large while half-squads and sections are Small, or something else?

In Panzer, leg units may be cavalry type, which are L sized. I think this is a carry over from there.

Thanks! I see some of the Soviets may be motorcyclists, and while a motorcycle is smaller than a horse perhaps it has a more prominent visual signature than pure leg infantry? (This would be a favorable interpretation for two squads of heavy motor-rifle troops who have recently crawled out of Full Cover on to a bridge, which happens to be under observation by a section of M3 CFVs exactly 15 hexes away.)

Got it, leg units are always Small. Many thanks, both from me and from some nervous (but now unspotted) dismounts.
