"Next: After you play your next card, each player loses RP equal to 5 times it's Star Rating"

We just wanted to make sure we were reading this right. So it sounds like everyone (including yourself) will lose the same amount of RP on the next turn...and we were struggling to figure out what the point of this card was.

Then we came up with the scenario that if someone scored tons of points with their first card, and you only had 5 RP, for example...you could play this with a large number on your next card, potentially causing opponents to lose lots of RP, while you would only lose the 5 that you had.

Is that the main way this card would be used? Or are we missing something else?

Some decks will score only a little RP during the tournament and a ton with scoring effects. Dr. Smile is a good card for such decks, as you'll be possibly depleting even up to 40-50 RP from all other players. This requires some planning, but is actually doable.

Yep.

That's the general "solution" for any symmetric negative card (see also Armageddon and Wrath of God from Magic). You know it's coming, and you arrange so that it hurts you less than everyone else. In this case, that means you want to have fewer RP than the card is going to end up costing everyone.

It could also be useful if you expect your opponents to be using cards which require paying some number of RP.

Excellent...thank you both!

This is my first foray into any type of a CCG experience, so just wanted to confirm that we were interpreting the usage of some of these card correctly.

We absolutely love the game, and look forward to many, many more plays.

This card would go great with AD2400. There's a couple of cards in there that do that.
