Hi guys

So quick story short we're build a table top subscription box service with a focus on indie games and part of that is the inclusion of an pre release game. The first of these is called Tempus Nautica.

All is pretty set but they is a bit of debate over the player ships.

In the taster size box these pieces are set to be Acrylic but we had considered making them in MDF too, or making it an option. We've took that away but I'm thinking of reintroducing it.

thoughts?

Acrylic... Wood... Both?

Oh obviously the wood would be dyed purple etc.

Here is what the ships look like for the printed model version

Anyways, Would you prefer one or the other, or the option.

Both fit stylistically and production costs isn't an issue.

... shameless link to kickstarter for ya too.

I think the model would look better if the stand part were in a different color, like transparent or black.

Acrylic looks more appropriate.

Looks like acrylic gives better detail?
Also the color might come out better, but I've never seen died MDF so can't say for sure.

Personally I like the translucency of the acrylic for a space theme. I am thinking of the feel I get from the colored die in Quantum, it just adds a nice touch.

Agreed. Thematically the MDF doesn't feel right. Even painted I think it wouldn't have the same effect as the acrylic.

On a personal note, I've never been a fan of MDF pieces. They seem... cheap (truth be told, they are generally a cheaper option).

Thanks all.

I also asked on Imgur and they strongly sided with Wood for it's heirloom feel... So i think it's a solid offer both I recon.

I did love the idea of changing the stand colour, and I think we'll be doing a redesign to fit that in.

thanks for all your time!
