Hi,

Firstly I'd like to say that I love Imperial Settlers. I have 20+ plays under my belt (since February of this year) and just bought the Why can't we be friends expansion.

One of the things I've dreamed of since I played this great game for the first time, is to have a new faction, then, when I found Atlanteans I felt very excited... But, I've read a lot of comments saying that this faction feels overpowered when compared with the factions from the base game.

Could someone confirm if that's true or not?

Thanks!

I think it's more that ppl don't raze other ppl buildings that much and the atlanteans need those common buildings to get their points. So if you let them alone they can rack up big points.

I have also 20+ games under my belt but atlanteans haven't come up that much ( we blind pick our faction), so i can't be sure.

Atlanteans are built around improving common buildings to be as twice as (or more) powerful. So although they are peaceful faction (swords are hard to come by for them), they are designed as 'must be blocked/attacked' faction. If you leave them untouched, they will dominate VP gain through the late game.

I agree, the Atlanteans are in kind of the same boat as the Japanese in that their buildings (common for atlantians, japanese faction buildings) need to be razed by a proactive roman or barbarian player/s. Atlanteans without common buildings to use their multiplyer cogs are dead in the water. Theres a reason why they get shields equal to the number of players at the start, and have a faction building which produces shields.

They are not overpowered. You just need to know how to counter them That's true you have to focus on your opponent more then against another facctions, but it doesn't mean they are strong

This is an excellent point. Also, if you play Egyptians and you're fortunate enough to get a Chariot Builder and Royal Swimming Pool early, you can really cause some problems for the Atlanteans.

Thanks everybody for all your answers. The thing is I really would like to add new factions/civilizations to the game (actually I saw the Aztecs are coming ), but I was worried about the Atlanteans being overpowered. Now, you've cleared my doubts out.

Thanks dudes!
