Hi All

As this game is based on an older version of Battle of Britain does anyone know if this game will solo well. I solo a lot of the Commands and Colors games but I appreciate that this one will not be based on the C & C command card engine.

Thank you for your comments and advice.
Dave

There was a request on the KS page for Borg to provide solo rules, and supposedly he is looking in to it, though no promises.

Otherwise, I would say it would be a reasonable guess that you could play it solo about as well as you can the Commands and Colors games.

Hi All

Thank you for coming back to me.

I tried the original game page on BGG and was pleased to see that somebody had asked the same question a couple of years ago but unfortunately nobody came back on it, back then.

I know this game will have differences over and above it predecessor but I should imagine the basics will be the same and if the sorties that are sent from France/Norway have a secret element regarding target and destination I would imagine the game would not solo well.

The game must be good, though, judging by the successful KS response.

No.
I have original.
Three secret missions for Luftwaffe each turn.
German player draws a number of secret mission cards and CHOOSES then assigns one to each Luftflotte still in play; up to three.
Big point is Raf don't know where Luftwaffe are going.

It seems the dogfight rules may be different but in the original again both the German player and RAF player looks at and CHOOSES flights in the dogfighting step and makes decisions based on this.

In my opinion totally unsuitable for solo play even if you get around the dogfighting as a big part is the secret missions.

There's always RAF: The battle of Britain 1940

Thank you for coming back to me. I thought that might be the case. This one will have to go up for sale, unfortunately.

No, all my gaming buddies have gone, I'm afraid and I can't seem to get on with Vassal. I've never heard of PBEM

PBEM - play by e-mail

And

PBF - play by forum (there's a forum for this on the game page)

Players submit their moves one at a time. Can be lengthy, but if you can leave the game out set up, it is a reasonable alternative.
