Scenario Summary


The Ravens are deep in the Nobles Quarter on a night mission for Wyrdstone. Unfortunately a rival gang is doing the same, and it appears we will not be able to leave without a fight!

This area is quite large, with several clusters of loot dispersed in small groups throughout the area. Our cart is in the South East corner of the map. The enemy cart is visible in the North West, but they are most likely dispersed into the ruins around us rather then close to their cart.

The Ravens are split into two groups. Xanamane is leading Hod, McFearsom and Marius and is close to our cart, whilst Sir Percival is with Seidel and Feggins who are split off to the West of the cart. The plan is for Percival's group to make their way back to the cart, looting as they go. Xanamane's group will sweep the area about the cart, then once The Ravens are all together we move as one into the map's center.


Xanamane, McFearsom, Marius & Hod start by our cart.



Sir Percival, Seidel Kraut and Feggins are off to the West.


Turn 1
Xanamane takes the initiative and leads the sweep of the area around our cart. He finds both a Wyrdstone Shard and a large Wyrdstone Cluster in the nearby ruins.


Xanamane uses his magic sensitive vision to locate a lovely Wyrdstone Cluster!


Marius finds a few Wyrdstone Fragments which he collects and returns to the cart for safe keeping. McFearsom and Hod follow Xanamane, then split off into the cover of the nearby buildings in search of more loot. Hod begins checking around the ground floor whilst McFearsom loads his new Handgun and prepares to head upstairs.

Over with Percival's group Feggins moves first, scouting ahead back towards our cart. He heads back slightly and around to the South West, freezing as he lays sight upon an enemy. Its a Mutant from the Cult of The Possessed!


Feggins sees a Chaos Mutant up ahead!


Its arm has been mutated into some kind of natural Mace that pulsates and glows with a sickly light. It sees Feggins and turns towards him menacingly. Feggins falls back to Percival and Seidel, 'We've got company', he reports to them and indicates back down the street. No sooner as he has said this the Mutant appears, heading towards them up the street. Feggins takes his time to aim and shoots, striking it through the knee. The Mutant is momentarily stunned by the blow and falls to the ground with a beastly roar.


Feggins crit-stuns the approaching Mutant!


'Bravo, Sir!' calls Percival who walks forwards and fires his Duelling Pistols. The Mutant groans inhumanly as the shots rip into it. Finally Seidel runs forwards hefting up his Great Sword. The Mutant cowers as Seidel stands over him and brings his Sword down cleaving the Mutant's skull open like a soft Melon!


Seidel puts the pathetic Mutant out of its misery!


Seidel uses the Mutants mangy clothing to wipe off his blade and takes its Armband and Dagger to sell for pocket change. He hears a noise to his left and looks up to see a Brethren, one of the Cult of Possessed's rank and file warriors, watching him through the window! He scrambles back to the others and warns them.


Seidel sees another enemy watching him from the window nearby!


Turn 2
McFearsom and Xanamane look at each other at the sound of Percival's Pistols ringing through the ruins. 'We're not alone', Xanamane says to nobody in particular. There's the sound of some rubble falling and the sound of something heavier landing on the cobbles out back of the ruined building- are there enemies behind us too?! McFearsom moves up the stairs to the next floor. There's a large hole in the wall looking out onto the street around the back. As he reaches the top of the stairs an arrow wizzies past him from outside! Another Brethren is in the street below taking another arrow from his quiver and getting ready for another shot. McFearsom hurls some discouraging words of abuse and returns fire. There's a heavy blast and a large cloud of smoke as the Handgun goes off. It hits the Brethren heavily making a cloud of blood and eliciting a satisfying cry. McFearsom chuckles and ducks back onto the staircase out of sight.


McFearsom gets to test out his new Fine Handgun, and to excellent effect!


Marius hears the shot and moves to the wall of the building and waits in case the enemy approaches from this way. Xanamane returns to the cart and deposits the Wyrdstone. Hod finds a few more Wyrdstone Fragments in the ground floor of the building, then stands guard in case the enemy tries to come through the back door.

Percival's group stands ready for an attack, but none comes..


Percival and the others wait for the attack, but the enemy does not make a move!


Turn 3
Xanamane runs back to the building, past McFearsom who indicates where the Brethren is and begins chanting as he climbs the stairs. He peeks out to see the Brethren still reeling from McFearsom's shot and takes advantage- he throws a white ball of energy that flies down into the street and explodes in a silent flash of blinding light on the ground below! The injured Brethren is left seeing stars. Xanamane ducks back onto the staircase out of sight.


Xanamane uses the spell Blinding Light to blind the injured Brethren!


McFearsom takes his turn to go back up the stairs for another shot on the Brethren, but there's no sign of him. 'The bugger's scarpered!', he calls to the others. There's a creak from above him and he looks up to see the enemy leader- a Cult Magister staring down at him from a wood walkway that leads into the building above them! McFearsom spins his Handgun up and blasts him, dealing a heavy blow. He then retreats back down the staircase.


McFearsom blasts the Cult Magister!


Hod checks out of the back door but there's no sign of the injured Brethren. He moves past the others and heads upstairs, tucking himself into a dark alcove on the landing where the Magister may not see him if he jumps down.

Over with Percival's group there is still no sign of the Brethren. Percival orders Feggins to scout ahead and check to see if the enemy is still there. Feggins moves forwards cautiously, keeping his Long Bow aimed on the window. He is struck by a surprise arrow- the Brethren has waited for The Ravens to get impatient and return so he could ambush them!


Feggins take an arrow in the back from the sneaky Brethren!


Feggins grimaces as he lifts his Bow back up and returns fire, shooting the Brethren in the chest! The Brethren is physically repelled by the shot from such close distance, and bumps into the wall behind him, slumping down to the ground stunned. Percival and Seidel run in to support Feggins. Percival shoots wildly at the window, hitting absolutely nothing! Seidel moves to the adjacent door and kicks it open, entering the building. The Brethren is on the ground of the narrow corridor inside, recovering from the arrow. Seidel stabs him in the shoulder, unable to efficiently swing his heavy blade in the confined space.

Turn 4
Marius hears running on the cobbles behind him. He looks round to see the injured Brethren escaping off to the West.


Marius sees the injured Brethren trying to escape and chases after him!


He gives chase, running as fast as possible in his Heavy Armour. He heads over some ruins and out onto the street on the other side only to be hit by an arrow from the escaping Brethren! His armour takes the worst of the damage, but it slows him enough for the Brethren to make his escape!


Marius has suffered a seemingly unsurvivable blow, and yet he is still standing! What is this witchcraft!?


Xanamane heads back upstairs whilst McFearsom reloads and attempts to blind the Magister with another Blinding Light spell. However the highly saturated magic environment twists the spell and something goes wrong! Xanamane is bathed in a bright light seemingly from straight above that follows him wherever he goes! The Wyrdlight luckily still has the desired effect and blinds the Magister, but now any other things in the ruins will know our location!


A miscast results in Xanamane lighting up like a beacon due to Wyrdlight!


Xanamane ducks out of sight into one of the bedrooms (for all the use it will do)!

The Magister plays right into our trap and drops down from the walkway into the upstairs landing of the building. No sooner as he landed McFearsom gives him another shot from his Handgun. The Magister follows the Wyrdlight to the bedroom where Xanamane is waiting and the two begin fighting.

Percival's pistol shots have also brought some unwanted attention and a feral and intimidating Chaos Berserker emerges nearby.


A dangerous Chaos Berserker arrives, drawn by the sound of Percival's Duelling Pistols!


Percival shouts warning to the others and shoots it, slowing its advance. The Brethren with Seidel tries to pull a Knife on him but he kicks the cultist's wrist, knocking the weapon loose from his hand and impales the Brethren through the chest. He gargles and flails for a couple of seconds before the life gives out from him.


Seidel finishes off the stunned Brethren!


Seidel takes his Bow and Dagger, then marches back outside. He walks purposely past the others, holding out his Great Sword and calling challenge to the approaching Berserker.

Turn 5
Xanamane is now too close to use Blinding Light and so let's his Staff do the talking! He lands a couple of strong blows against the Magister, but he receives a couple too from the Magister's brutal Warhammer, and the fight will not go well for him as it is! Luckily the others are there too. Hod charges into the Magister's back bringing his Halberd sweeping forwards. The Magister ducks and Hod's blade finds only the wooden door frame. McFearsom comes up the stairs and raises his Handgun. The Magister is only half visible through the doorway to the bedroom and Hod is in the way! Seeing a slim chance of success McFearsom goes for the shot. 'Hod, duck!' he shouts. 'Where?!' says Hod looking around for the Duck. McFearsom shoots, the shot skimming past the confused Hod and striking the Magister in the back of the head, spraying a mist of brains all over the wall behind him!


McFearsom once again makes a crack shot, hitting a target in combat, behind a friendly unit and in cover, dealing the finishing blow to the Magister!


Xanamane's pointy hat leans around the doorway towards McFearsom. 'Nice shot' he praises. 'Xanamane, where's the Duck?', asks Hod. 'You missed it, Knuckly Hod', Xanamane reassures him, 'now let's go help the others'.

Over to the West the Berserker charges Percival's group. Seidel also charges and the two meet in the middle. The Beserker is no novice or henchman, and fights fiercely. Wielding an Axe in one hand, his other warped into a foul bone blade that weeps and hisses, he blocks Seidel's comparatively slow sweeps and counters with several savage stabs and slashes!


The Berserker does significant damage to poor Seidel!


Seidel manages to land a single blow, nearly chopping off the Beserker's arm at the shoulder, but unnatural vitality allows it to keep going. Feggins and Percival struggle to get a clear shot without hitting Seidel.

Turn 6
Xanamane's group start to make their way West towards Percival and the others.

The Brethren Marius has been chasing is now behind Percival's group getting ready to attack! Feggins ignores the new threat for now, managing to land an arrow against the Beserker, but he won't die!


Feggins shoots on the Berserker, but it won't go down!


The Berserker continues his assault against poor Seidel, who is now in critical condition. The Berserker knocks Seidel back and sweeps for his neck, attempting to behead the Youngblood, but Seidel moves fast despite his injuries and dodges the fatal blow!


Seidel dodges a blow that would have put him Out of Action!


Percival holsters his Pistols and draws his Sword, moving into the fight to support Seidel.


Percival moves in to support Seidel and out number the Berserker!


Percival's arrival is the distraction Seidel needs, and the Beserker drops his guard just long enough for Seidel to land a blow. He roars as the horizontal sweep cleaves straight through the Berserker, sending its head toppling across the cobbles in a spurt of blood!


Seidel once again makes the final blow against the enemy!


With the last of the enemy Heroes defeated the remaining enemiy's morale falters and they flee for their lives!

Victory!

I can't decide which is deadlier: McFearsom and his hand cannon, or Seidel and his great sword. Granted, everyone did really well this time. Our new mage even got some licks in and survived going toe-to-toe with the cult leader!

And props to Sir Percival for his uncharacteristic bravery in helping distract the berserker long enough for Seidel to strike the killing blow.

Ulric is with Marius, again. The magic in Mordheim musst be really strong to distort space so no damage was taken from this shot.

Also, I got us (or Mr. Boris, at least) an Achievement (for winning a game with a handicapped fighter).
