I was this year's substitute GM for the Princes of Florence tournament at the World Boardgaming Championships. Eric Brosius will take the event back next year. In the meantime, here is my record of the final table (using Eric's template).

Our players were as follows: Anthony Bosca, Randy Buehler, Legend Dan Hoffman, Derek Glenn, Jason Long.

Because of the perception that some seats (especially Seat 2 in a 5-player game) are better than others, bidding is used to determine seating order in the semi-finals and finals. In the final, Randy paid $400 for Seat 2 and Anthony paid $200 for Seat 1. The other three seats were free.

Seat - Player - Cash

Thanks for the detailed writeup!

it looks like you made a copy-paste error, and the money totals after round 5 are mostly actually the money totals after round 4.

Thanks again Alex! Here are the comments and pics I posted to the parallel thread on bookface:

"Thanks for taking the time to type this up! Its a great momento to my first wbc final table. Thanks to everyone who played, it was an exciting and tight game."

(about Alex's comment that a builder strategy might have been successful):

"That might be true, to be honest that was only my 8th-11th game of princes so I'm not the best judge. Haha. I know my naïveté showed through, unfortunately in the final game, I think I may have cost myself 2nd place with an unforced error in the second to last turn. Ah well. I was just happy to be there."

It's fun to self quote- if I don't do it, who else would?! Cheers to all!

I'm sorry for a noob question here, but I don't quite get the idea of choosing the number of points/cash while exchanging WP after completing a work. Since I can choose to exchange PP for florins at any time why choosing a points/cash split? Delaying the decision on how much money I need I am not at risk of ending the game with, let's say, 600 florins which could provide me solid 3PP. What am I missing here?

If you choose to take cash when you do the Work, you get 200 Florin per PP sacrificed. If you do it at any other time, you only get 100 Florin per PP sacrificed.
