2 investigators are on the same space as a monster. A horror check is done at the end of the Mythos round.

In the app you would touch the monster you would do the horror check with.

Would you do this 2 different times, 1 check for each investigator, so they each get their own check?

Or because they're in the same space with the same monster, would you just do the check once and have both investigators do the same check?

Each investigator does their own horror check. So it would be two separate horror checks, even though it is on the same monster (this was true in 1st edition as well).

To be clear, under Horror Step in the Rules Reference (the complete book) it states:

"If multiple investigators would resolve a horror check against the same monster, those investigators all resolve the same horror check."

So both people resolve the same check (as in the skill check and flavor text), but both people must resolve it separately (both players will roll dice and resolve independently).

pretty sure in 1st edition whenever you entered a room with a monster youd make a horror test........is this different now? does it only happen when the app instructs you?

I missed that particular line. Good to know. Saves a couple button presses, and thematically makes sense for flavor text anyway. The monster wouldn't do something different when scaring each investigator.

Correct. Now horror checks are done during the mythos phase (when the App tells you to), and each investigator only has to do 1 horror check against the monster with the highest horror rating within range of them (3 spaces). In first edition you had to do horror checks every time you saw a monster... for EVERY monster, so I definitely like the streamlining in 2nd edition.

But to be clear - is this horror check done EVERY mythos phase for the monster with the highest horror - regardless of whether the monster has already been in the room for more than one turn? For example, Dexter is the investigator in the room and a monster enters the room and is within range. During the Mythos phase, Dexter does a horror check. Dexter takes his actions, but at the end of the investigator phase, the monster is still present. So it's now the second Mythos phase that Dexter is able to see the monster. Does he do another horror check? In 1st edition, he would not - as he has already seen the monster and done the horror check - thus is not newly exposed to him. But I read this to be different in 2nd edition. Thanks for any clarification!
