Nation wide, Trump is polling at 2% nationally with black voters. The only other major party candidates to poll this low are Barry Goldwater in 1964 (Goldwater voted against the civil rights act) and John McCain (running against Obama, the first black candidate).

In Ohio and Pennsylvania, crucial swing states, the latest polls have him at 0%

Fun thing is efforts to suppress the black vote may be increasing black voter turnout.

http://www.voteriders.org/Clinics/Guidelines
https://leanleft.com/2015/01/15/voter-suppression-laws-can-b...

voter Id laws intentionally disenfranchise seniors, the poor, and minorities.

And dmv employees are being told not to provide information about how to get a free id.

It is surprising that it is so high. I would have expected 1%. And it's really republican statements and policies over the last 16 to 20 years in this case, not trump per se.

Wow. With a Narrative like that you can win either way.

Fewer black voters? "It's because they're being suppressed!"
More black voters? "It's because they're being suppressed!"

I kind of admire the left's fealty to a Narrative.

Tat's what people are saying.

The odd thing here is that these groups also depend on government services that require ID. I wonder how it is that they can get an ID for "free shit" but apparently in your eyes are too stupid to get that same ID to vote.

The subtle racism of lowered expectations.

I think republicans scored points and lowered turnout (by their own statements) and won races 2008 to 2012 but now awareness of these tactics have spawned resistance and more importantly an active desire to vote.

Many voters don't really care to vote until you try to take away their right to vote. That pisses them off. Suppression is being identified and ways to counter it are being implemented. I think it's likely I'll do some volunteer work for the voter id organization I linked.

Hmmm, not surprising that a white billionaire is out of touch with a segment of society that stands one of the lowest economic rungs of the ladder. But hey, let's build that wall and lose touch with another growing segment of the population, Mexicans. Throw a few more insults about womens menstrution in to the equation, and let's piss off the women vote. So far, about the only segment of the population that seems to favor him are the gun proponents, and white middle class Bible-Belt males (who like toting guns). Yea, he's gonna defintely win the Presidency...

That's not necessarily precise, of course. If you include the margin of error, it's possible that Trump is getting -10 percent of the black vote. (That's not a typo; the margin of error is 11 percent.)

Not true. It likely varies from state to state, but in Minnesota a state ID isn't required for assistance. They'll want bank statements, tax filings, etc, to be brought to an in person meeting. It's a lot more effort than it takes to vote. But don't forget the crucial distinction between voting and assistance: voting is a right. Election fraud is a red herring.

When the "T" word comes up (don't want to trigger RSPers') in a discussion many of them are like "I like Trump, I can't get behind Bernie"(when he was still in) or "Trump's a'yight"
This is not around mobs of other blacks. I think they don't want to bring on the wrath of the hardcore democrat type blacks. It reminds me of that game "Werewolf" but there are multiple "Werewolves".

Actually no, as in North Carolina

"Before enacting that law, moreover, “the legislature requested data on the use, by race, of a number of voting practices.” After receiving that data, “the General Assembly enacted legislation that restricted voting and registration in five different ways, all of which disproportionately affected African Americans.” Indeed, this data appears to have guided the state’s lawmakers in drafting a law that would have maximal impact on African-Americans.

The law did not simply contain a voter ID provision. Rather “the legislature amended the bill to exclude many of the alternative photo IDs used by African Americans” while simultaneously retaining “only the kinds of IDs that white North Carolinians were more likely to possess.” (Although, in fairness, this provision was later watered down.)
The legislature’s data on racial voting patterns showed that “African Americans disproportionately used the first seven days of early voting,” and so “the General Assembly amended the bill to eliminate the first week of early voting.” The data showed that “African American voters disproportionately used [same-day registration] when it was available,” and so same-day registration was cut as well. The law also eliminated out-of-precinct voting, which “required the Board of Elections in each county to count the provisional ballot of an Election Day voter who appeared at the wrong precinct, but in the correct county, for all of the ballot items for which the voter was eligible to vote.” African-Americans, meanwhile, were especially likely to take advantage of this practice.

Yet for all these changes, the lawmakers exempted absentee voting from the law’s new voter ID restriction, and it did so after discovering “that African Americans did not disproportionately use absentee voting; whites did.” Thus, as Motz summarizes the facts of the case, “the General Assembly enacted legislation restricting all — and only — practices disproportionately used by African Americans.”

Or maybe they tell you what you want to hear so they don't have to have an unpleasant conversation with you while you imitate black speech and talk about "mobs of other blacks".

Also, I'm sure your anecdotal evidence totally trumps national and statewide polling data.

That's interesting.

You need an ID to open up a bank account (which you then need to get "free shit").

You also need an ID to file a tax return (which you then need to get "free shit").

You also need an ID to purchase cigarettes, drive a car, get a credit card, obtain a payday loan, cash a check at a bank, write a check, purchase alcohol...lots of things that so-called "disenfranchised" voters do nearly every day of their life.

But somehow they are "put off" when it comes time to vote?

Yes, I agree that "voter fraud" is red herring, and with the exception of the election of Al Franken to the Senate, it doesn't really happen (except in Chicago where it doesn't matter). But this canard that obtaining an ID is SOOOOO difficult that it would disenfranchise black people (but not white, because I never see a white person complain about getting an ID) from voting has run it's course and needs to die just like cries of "voter fraud" every four years. But these same people who would claim that voter ID's would prevent them from voting somehow manage to get an ID for nearly every other facet of life.

Wait, this part piqued my interest.

What is an "alternative" form of ID that blacks get many times, but whites rarely? I understand that a person can get a non-driver's license government issued ID. Is that what they are talking about? If so, then it sounds like the law said "If you can't drive a car, you can't vote", which is really stupid.

So what are "alternative" forms that blacks use but whites don't? I want one...maybe...
