Going through the rulebook, the games don't seem to have anything in common beyond thematic similarity.

WEDS playtime seems to be roughly half of Waste Knights, and has far less upkeep than Waste Knights appears to have.

I'll have a video recorded tomorrow and posted on Wednesday walking you through a few turns of the game and overall strategy to give you a feel of Wasteland Express.

Waste Knights looks descendant fro some of the Avalon Hill games from the 80s (lots of resources, lots of success checks) where WEDS is a Euro/Thematic hybrid with a much slimmer rulebook.
