Hello, I'm new here.

I'm about to buy some cards to get in the game.

I have the choice between several options on the second hand market.

1) 2 core set + gollum + Carrock + sleeves for 55 euro

2) 1 core set + black knight for 40 euro

3) 1 core set + cycle 1 complete for 65 euro

4) 1 core set + Gollum + carrock + Rhosgobel for 52 euro

What is the best option for you guy's?

Sorry for my english.

Best regards,

Vifzor

If you plan to play solo, option 3 or 4.

If you plan to play multiplayer, option 1.

I'd say option 3 or 4. I really don't think you need two core sets to build strong decks for a multiplayer game.

Option 3, plus it's a great price

With no "smart-ass" intent implied....

The best place to start is at the beginning.

So I think your 3rd option is best.

I'm also a new player and started with 1 core.

Within a week I have Gollum, Carrock and Rhosgobel all sleeved up.

Emyn Muil is on the way.

I am loving it and have spent loads of time reading forums, watching videos, listening to podcasts and learning the ropes.

I love a board game but this is my first venture into a card game. I am loving it! After much research, I opted to start at the beginning. It has served me well.

I recently bought 1 core, Gollum, Carrock. I'm having a ton of fun so I'll probably buy the rest of the APs in this cycle soon.

I considered starting with an extra core set or one of the saga expansions but in retrospect I'm glad started buying the APs in the order they were released.

I would go for #4 and spend the difference in cost between #3 and #4 in sleeves.

I always sleeve my cards. I love this game too much to think that it won't last me till I'm 80. Even if it means I have to buy less adventure packs so I can afford the sleeves.

isn't option 1 better in term of price compared to option 4?

option 3 is no longer available btw.

I'm planning to play solo or in a 2p setting.

Seems to me getting a extra core set is better than getting rhosgobel...

Also you should know there won't be any shipping cost for option 1. And option is already sleeved.

The extra core set is useless for a new player?

Perhaps not quite useless but you'll get more gameplay from the adventure packs.

You're limited to three copies of any card in your decks. The core-set, infamously, has some cards where only 2, or even 1, copies of the card are included in the box. If you're playing multi-player you might want these extra cards (including some of the three-ofs) to build good decks that you can both use. If you're playing mainly solo you'll be fine without those cards to begin with. They're nice to have, eventually, but the adventure packs will give you more quests to play as well as more player cards to build your decks and more heroes to use.

Most people who play solo start with one core and play the game with one core quite happily. I include myself in that and only plan to get a second core-set when all my cards no longer fit in one box.

Option 3 looks best because you get a complete cycle where some packs are out of print.

As you get more cycles the need for more cores is greatly reduced. As a solo player you're not likely to have the need in the first place.

I prefer new over more of the same, except where it gives very noticeable benefits (like AGoT 2e, where nearly every card is 1x).

So far as I'm aware, Mirkwood is all in print at the moment.

I saw shortages, and FFG list The Hunt for Gollum as not available, with a reprint coming.

FFG's reprints are happening so often lately it's like a broken clock situation - you'll always be correct at least half the time if you never say anything different

Khazad-Dûm and a few other deluxe expansions are at the printer now, probably in the third week or so. Start playing now and you'll know if you want more of this, so you can buy the next expansion while it's in stock!

There's reason to get up to three core sets for solo play, but the value obviously diminishes a lot for the second and a TON for the third.

I am getting into the game as a newb as well. Hunt for Gollum is still available. Just ordered it from Miniature Market for $11.95. They have a few left.

I also feel like starting from the beginning is the best way to go. I have ordered one core set and the first three adventure packs. I also plan to sleeve all my cards.

I've only recently got into the game (had the core set for a while but not dived in).

I'm limiting myself to buying a couple of packs a month (or 1 deluxe) and I've not had any trouble so far getting hold of the Mirkwood cycle, in the UK at least (last 2 packs should arrive today or tomorrow).

Hopefully by the time I'm ready to do next month's purchase Khazad Dum will be a bit more available

It's been on the boat for about two weeks now, so early October it should be in stores.
