Beware potential spoilers if you've not seen the show

Think about it, a co-op game where you play as the kids.

You have to rescue Will from the Upside down before he succumbs the darkness.

While also avoiding the creepy guys from Hawkins lab, plus the Monster.

Thoughts?

It's fun, it's healthy, it's good exercise. The kids will just love it. And we put a little sand inside to make the experience more pleasant.

You know, they say there was a man who jumped from the forty-FIFTH floor? But that's another story...

I just assumed they are all playing one big game of D&D.

That show was amazing! One of the best I've seen on TV. It would be very meta if your game characters played D&D inside the game.

The only thing I can see that this show has going for it, is a heavy wave of '80s nostalgia. This thing moves as slow as molasses in January. I got to episode 5 and gave up.

Like the theme, but don't want yet another co-op.

It would be cool as a 2-3 player competitive game: gov't vs kids vs demigorgon.

I'd wonder if you'd be able to make a custom adventure deck for The Siblings Trouble for this, since it sites The Goonies as one of its inspirations. In other words, the narrative arc structure is already baked into that game, so all you need is cards to reflect the right mood/locations/events/items.

Pretty much all TV shows move like that these days though. Most of these series would be better told as a movie in <2 hrs, but they drag them out into several seasons.

You want 'Midnight Special'.

Though I LOVED Stranger Things. I hope there's another series.

Be sure to use one-dimensional character tokens, to reflect the characters in the show, then slap it all in a 'retro' VHS case.

Stretch each game session out over 8 hours, even though it could be tightened to a decent 80-90 minutes and constantly remind players that they love the Eighties aesthetic to distract them from the thin plot and turgid pacing.

Dedicate an overlong section of the game to Nancy taping together a photograph - what's the in-game equivalent to 3+ camera cuts to a tape dispenser?

I loved Stranger Things and a boardgame would be cool, especially if the board flips to show the upside down.
