it's confusing and weird to have one of the players essentially having his submarine upside down - all the combat directions are opposite of the ones drawn on the tiles, there's confusion about which side of the sub is which, etc.

the easiest solution would just have been to print all the compartments double-sided, with a left-side and right-side version on the different sides

how do people deal with it?

(so far we tried mental gymnastics to correct for this, which usually works but occasionally leads to mistakes; or just playing with the tiles being literally upside down for one player, which is easier but reading upside-down text is not for everyone)

Hi,
You can turn one player combat's compartments 180° so all combat compartments are facing the same way.

Most "combat" compartments have little or even no text on them.
