The Las Vegas Board Game Convention

March 17th - March 19th of 2017

Well folks our 2nd annual board game convention, MeepleCon 2, has come and gone. With close to 500 people attending our first ever three day event and with such fantastic vendor support, it's safe to say that MeepleCon 2 was a great success! We thank each and every one of you for helping to make that happen.

We are very pleased to announce that pre-registration for our 3rd annual MeepleCon is now officially open!!! It is poised to be even bigger and better than last year.

• Yes.. Tom, Sam and Zee from the Dice Tower will again be joining us this year for more fun and games. Don't miss it!

MeepleCon 3 will again be held at the Eastside Cannery from March 17th-March 19th of 2017. This year we have decided to add even more convention space for our gamers to play and you will again have access to the same great food this year via the onsite buffet, the onsite 24 hour deli, and other convenient food options nearby. We will also be expanding our access to a great block of rooms this year at great prices. We hope you decide to join us this year as we continue to make MeepleCon a bigger and better convention with lots of learning games, more Play to Wins, more tournaments, more unique vendors, great food, more rooms with great rates and more fun.

Register for Meeplecon in March of 2017 before October 8th and get free entrance to MidMeeple 2 on October 8th:
http://www.meeplecon.com/#!register/mainPage

We are also excited to announce that we will again be holding MIDMEEPLE 2 on October 8th at the Eastside Cannery from 10:00am until midnight as well! See our separate Meetup for more info on MidMeeple 2.
http://www.meeplecon.com/#!mid-meeple/czs0

• Important Note: We will be capping registrations for MeepleCon in March of 2017 at 600 registrations this year. Do not delay in registering, as we fully expect to sell out!

also,

do you find a lot of people bring games to this con for playing? or is it mostly just the games in the library?

Thanks!

There is a library, but a lot of people bring their own games also. Plus there are play to wins, and teaching sessions also. It's a pretty fun time and you should always be able to find a game.

So do people generally stack their games along the walls for others to use? I have seen that many times at cons and with 600 people the library doesn't seem like an adequate size/ selection for that many gamers.

Thanks for the insight to the play to wins etc.

The MeepleCon library will be sponsored by Meepleville, the Board
Game Café. Rest assured there will be a large library of games for people to check out and play, and the library will also be made up of good quality games.

As mentioned, a lot of people also bring their own games to play with others. They don't usually share them as you suggest by stacking them on the walls. But, they do put out player wanted signs for their own games and are usually willing to teach others when you join them.

The Play to Win section was a big hit last year, so we will be expanding the number of games we will be offering via that route.

Look forward to gaming with you all this year.

Awesome Toby. If you're from California, we should have a good block of rooms in the same hotel as the convention. We will be posting more info about that as soon as we've ironed out the details. Last year we had some great rates, so I'm hopeful we can negotiate a similar deal this year. The rooms are pretty nice too.

I am thinking of coming to MidMeeple this year (and to the MeepleCon next year!). Is there a trade list or math trade for MidMeeple?

We have our tickets and have booked a room.

One critique that we had from last year is that the "learn to plays" were completely full through Sunday by the time we showed up late Saturday morning. Have you put any thought into modifying the signup process so that there are more signup opportunities than just early in the con?

One note to out-of-towners (like us) if you think you might go, book a room now. This is March Madness week and there will literally be zero rooms available anywhere in Vegas.

MidMeeple in October will be a more casual game day. About 150 people attended throughout the day last year. We expect a little more this year. We tried putting together a trade list last year for MidMeeple, but we didn't get a lot interest in it. It seems like most just wanted to trade the day of the event instead.

Yes Dev. Based on feedback from last year we will definitely be revamping the Learn to Play process this year. Stay tuned for more details on that front as we decide how best to improve the process.

Sweet. I'm glad you're motivated to try to improve. We had a great time at the last con and are looking forward to the next one.

Just a reminder that MidMeeple 2 on Saturday October 8th is fast approaching. MidMeeple is a casual game day that we host each year as our way of saying thank you to everyone for supporting MeepleCon.

Again, if you register for MeepleCon before October 8th, then MidMeeple is free. Or, MidMeeple will be $15 at the door.

During the first few hours of MidMeeple we will host a swap meet/flea market, so make sure to bring some of your games to sell or trade. MeepleCon will only be bringing a small library of games to MidMeeple, so we encourage you all to bring some of your own games to play as well.

Hope to see you all there!

<groan>... I'd like to ask the MeepleCon staff just why did you pick this date then?

Did like Eastside Cannery Casino. Good parking, and the place was a nice value. I recall somebody asked if this would move onto The strip? That seems like it would be difficult, and expensive.

The Meepleville can team can provide their reasonings but from my perspective it turns out to be a pretty good weekend. Admittedly last year I was super frustrated because I decided late to go to the con and found it very difficult to find a room anywhere in or near Vegas.

However, this weekend should be the weekend directly after the GAMA trade show (at least it was last year.) That meant the Dice Tower guys were already in town and were able to attend the con. It was pretty cool seeing them there. Also because of GAMA, the con had decent vendor support, presumably because they too were already in town because of GAMA.

This is the reason we've chosen this date for multiple years now (right after GAMA). Some well known board gamers and many vendors are already in town. Dice Tower has already confirmed that they will attend again this year. We hope to expand both the number of vendors and the number special guest board gamers this year. We shall see.
