I made a error and uploaded a photo I took of the instructions from an out of print game. It wasn't accepted due to the BGG rules (I didn't read that rule when I posted, but now I know.) I think the rule is due to copyright concerns?

But it feels strange to me that I can post photos of the game box, all the contents of the game, but no photos of the instructions? I would think the instructions are part of the game as much as a pawn or game board.

Copyright law is frustrating.

Agreed, but it is BGG's way of trying to thread the needle to avoid problems.
