Hey BGGers

This weekend I realized two things I love in boardgames are:

- spatial element ("put this thing next to that thing, preferably on a map", examples: most abstracts, Tigris, Kingdom Builder, Terra Mystica)
- tactile (we like having lots of little wooden pieces to handle, examples: Agricola, Carcassonne)

Combing through BGG, I only found a few games that have both, all of which I own:
- Terra Mystica
- Power Grid
- Kingdom Builder
- to some extent, Agricola, Keyflower, Carcassonne, Five Tribes (which I don't own yet) all have spatial and wood, but no real map to speak of

Other games:
- Tigris and Euphrates is spatial, but doesn't have enough wood
- many Euros

Can you recommend any other games like that?

First thing that came to mind was Steam Park. It's fairly light, especially compared to the titles you're listing here, but nonetheless its a fun game with great and very tactile components (mainly 3d cardboard, not wood) and an important spatial element to it.

Alternatively, have a look at the euro Cuba, which is a medium on the weight scale and has very little luck. Again, great components, especially the art. However, here the spatial element is implemented through placing tiles, not wooden bits. Also, while Cuba itself is 'just' good, it really shines with Cuba: El Presidente on top.

Finally, check out First Train to Nuremberg (or its predecessor, Last Train to Wensleydale). The components are perhaps not stellar, but it definitely has that spatial element you're looking for. In fact, I suspect you won't even care that much about the components - this is very much a put-stuff-on-the-board-to-pick-other-stuff-up style game. Very Wallacian and about the same weight as the titles you've listed.

About as spatial and tactile as you can get, really.

Not the heaviest game, but a lot of fun, and very tactile:

Possibly The Voyages of Marco Polo or Via Nebula? Definitely give Five Tribes a chance!

[EDIT: Also maybe Burano?]

Burano is on my list for this year!

Via Nebula looks like its worth a try.

Marco Polo I tried once, I got the character who gets free contracts and the whole game turned into Set Collection. Is it possible to play the game focussing on travel? I would love to pop through XiAn and Kashgar

Java looks awesome. Reminds me of Taluva (which I tried to play, but couldn't figure out the rules)

Steam Park may be a bit light, but Cuba may be good. If only I can get a copy...

Medina (second edition) Is all about placing beautiful bits in certain places to score points.

Battle Sheep Move Stacks of chips to claim space

For a more literal and puzzley interruption of Spacial and tactile I'd Suggest:
Enigma
Ubongo
Patchwork
