Somewhere in space the postal gods sit helping all the little parcels of the world get to there destination.

Sometimes they intervene and sometimes they don't.

Sometimes they just like to wonder off to the room that says on the door "Funny Fails Room".

Meanwhile back on Earth:

Ding Dong....

Me "Hello Mr DHL man , I'm I glad to see you , I've been waiting almost a year to see your happy face".

DHL man "Er ok" and gives me an awkward look.
He hands me a elongated package.(large Map)

Me "Ha , I guess the other package was too heavy to bring all at once and must be in the van".

DHL man "Er no that's it mate"

Me "But , but ".. He walks off back to his van shaking his head.

I go back inside to be greeted by my wife.

"Hello dear, is that your game you've been waiting for?"

"Sort of" I reply

"Oh well we should have a game this evening" she says.

"Would you hand me down my copy of Clash of Cultures , I think I may need to make a few proxy's , do you think anyone will notice if the camels look like elephants!!".

That scenario is as odd as Willem Dafoe's mug.

Maybe you have offended the Postal Gods in some way and they need an offering. Perhaps a sacrifice or burnt offering. They must be exceedingly angry to just send you the map - to tease you with the game while keeping all its joy from you.

If I were you, I would offer up my copy of Titanic: The Board Game and set it on a burning pyre. You are welcome to pick your lowest ranking board game. You must try to get the Postal Gods back on your side - they can be a fickle and uncaring lot.

But all joking aside - that really sucks!

Side note, but hwo good is the CoC expansion? I like CoC, but as one of the heaviest and longest games I own, it's hard to get it played. And it seems like the expansion would just up the difficulty for newbies. Is it something you don't recommend for first timers?

The expansion is great , what's not to like about rampaging elephants , just impossible to get hold off now at a reasonable price.

Well at least you get free delivery.......lol

Stick to the base game with newbies , there's enough to try and take in if you haven't played before , plays great with 2 players and a lot less downtime.

The expansion is excellent and adds a ton of variability (I playtested so I'm biased, but still....). Each time you sit down you have to figure out how to best use your Civs advances which is a puzzle I never tire of.

I agree it's not for first timers though. There is just too much processing of the base game Advances board on first play to add anything else for newbies. But otherwise the expansion is pretty easy to grok - 3 new buildings, 2 new army units, 4 civ advances + a few other misc things. The new rules will add some time when initially learning the expansion, but there is nothing mechanically that adds time once you know it (like extra phases, etc).

Hopefully they'll be reprinting it before too long.

They gave you a board? And you're unhappy? You should be grateful; you can proxy everything else. I'm sitting here contemplating knocking my copy together with a pad of plain paper and an HB pencil.

yes, the record is now as broken as my morale.

Joy and Happiness drains from my face......

DHL man "Only kiddin , it is for you , can you sign here please.

Me "You Bastard.....lol ".. He walks off back to his van laughing.

I go back inside to be greeted by my wife.

"Er yes" I reply "guess I wont need those elephants after all".

Joy and happiness returned.....The End
