As usual with these fellows' games, I love Council of Four. But I was surprised to discover that among all my Euros this is the best to play with my 10 year-old.
It's because the rules are simple and it's easy to make decent decisions even if you're hazy about your overall plan.
I give myself the handicap of starting with zero cards, and our games turn out surprisingly close. And I don't have to dumb down my play, which is paradise.

Nice. Will give it a try with my nieces
We played the game the first time last year at Spiel in Essen. And I was actually really surprised that when we sat down at a demo table we were playing within a few minutes: straight forward rules and no hard to memorize exceptions. So I can confirm your experience.
