I like this game but the major flaw in it that we've found is the end game condition. It ends when the final technology is bought; but other than victory points (which can be gained elsewhere) there's no great incentive to buy technologies. So if no one goes down that road the game just goes on and on for hours.
Has anyone come up with another end game condition that works well?

Huh, we only played this a few times, but VPs were so scarce that we were always looking for techs. Perhaps you could say some roughly equivalent amount of VPs as you would have when the tech deck runs out if that's what people focused on? Or game ends once X units are destroyed?
