Humans are to strong as they can place control markers in adjacent unoccupied territories. Let's fix this by rewording the Scouting skill and the Airfield building.

1. Thematically you do not get control by scouting an area. You gather information by scouting.

Therefore rephrase the Scouting skill as follows:

"Look at all face down Trog and Exploration Counters in an area which is adjacent to an area you control. Replace these tokens face down".

By this Humans get an advantage as the do not walk blindly into an area without knowing if they can capture it and what they are getting by exploring it.

2. Thematically you do not get control of an area by just flying over it. You get however increased mobility.

Therefore rephrase the Airfield building as follows:

"Move up to two units from your HQ to this region or move up to two units from this region to another airfield in an non-battle region."

This allows Humans to get faster around the board.

So what do you think?

This is still untested.

The change to Scouting would "fix" the Human faction's power combo, and is thematic, but it'd need testing, as it seems a bit weak.

The change to airfield is unnecessary, that building is not overpowered by itself. And thematically you're drop shipping troops into the area, hence gaining control.

True, the new Scouting skill is only good until midgame. The change of Airfield is necessary to prevent Humans getting control of a region without a battle.

Let's try it out

Except that Airfield can't be built until the Humans, control a region. In a 2 or 3 player game they can move into a non Trog token region on the side of the board, and gain control. OR they can move into a Trog token region and start a battle.

If they move into the side region, then the other player(s) should move in and start a battle there, preventing the building of Airfield.

So we are talking about not getting Airfield in the game until Round two, and that's only if the Humans win a battle's control objective.

Airfield is only too strong because of Scouting. Scouting is the real problem, and the solution right now is not playing with it. Scouting makes the other things OP, but without scouting they are fair and balanced with the other factions.
