What non-playing board game aspects of the hobby do you take part in. For some reason it intrigues me.

For example,
Making foamXcore inserts
Having a blog, Vlog, Instagram focused on board games
Designer your own.
Upgrading components
Hosting/Organizing community meet ups
Painting Minis
Traveling to conventions
frantically sleeving every card.
Etc.

well i guess bgg use is obvious
I host my community of close friends
making pnp games
I've started upgrading my games in various ways such as inserts and related organization, even trying to upgrade components and boxes
I've gone to prototype testing events (that gives me a serious sense of pride and idk why so much)
I try my hand at designing, have yet to get further than some successful house rules and small adds

I think the one thing I wont eventually do is mini painting, I just don't have the talent or skill and I would get more use out of getting better at drawing and graphic arts so I'm spending time leveling those

I write down concepts for board game ideas and have one prototype that still needs lots of play testing. Back when I was playing lots of Firefly: the Game I made a couple scenario cards.

BGG Use
Storage solutions (including but not limited to foam)
Painting armada minis (no others, yet, I don't generally do minis).

That's about it, I have many other hobbies to exercise all other parts of braining. I don't upgrade components, or design games (way too much time to design anything, I don't bother with everything on the market being great as is).

Just gaming, hosting, and a few cons. No other major obsessions with the hobby.

Besides the typical stuff (spending time at BGG in many diverse ways, making minor inserts or other crafty stuff, clipping counters, going to occasional cons/tournaments, etc), a more unusual game-related thing I do increasingly often lately is write boardgame-inspired poems in Esperanto:
Poemoj pri tabulludoj (Limeriko pri Crusader Rex, robajo pri Ottoman Sunset , ktp)

after reading your list it seems the only thing I do is sleeve some of my cards.

Is that bad?

I come on this site a lot.

I have introduced family and friends to many of my games which led them to purchases of their own, so that's good I think.

frantically sleeving every card.

Besides BGG, I host a game night once per month. I have always wanted to get into painting minis, but so far have kept myself from going down that path.

Ok, I got a towel. You can all look back now.

Outside of playing the dern things?

I do minor component upgrades, buy the occasoinal bling kits (Agricola, Eclipse).
I buy some storage solutions (Broken Token- Mad King Ludwig, a few others)
I'm the designated game finder for friends and family.
I spend way too much time on here.
I make game polls.

When we host board games in our home with friends we often combine the event with a potluck type meal and some snacks during breaks. (No food or drink on game table and wash hands first).

Reading chit-chat.
Meticulously organizing game box contents.

I guess I paint mini's, but I haven't painted a board game mini yet.

I don't know, does reorganizing the game shelf so the spouse doesn't get mad about the space count?

Collecting games is not playing games.
mbmbmbmbmb
I tend to go in waves where I focus in on one aspect then move to another and back and forth. But in no particular order:

Collecting games (I pretty much do all the rest of these things to not buy more games)
Painting miniatures
Scanning games into cardwarden for portable iPad play
Just started making Vassal modules for portable PC play
Reading manuals
Searching for cool little upgrades (Dollhouse canned food for use in Dead of Winter, for example)
Agonize over what games I can bring and teach to non gamers
I have the foamcore to make inserts but haven't made that leap yet.
Writing reviews for games with few reviews.

I find the games and teach them. I toy around a little bit with design, but usually I rapidly come to the conclusion that what I am trying to construct is deeply flawed in one or more ways.

I've been a miniatures gamer for longer than I have been back into board games as an adult. As such, I like

painting minis
making/painting terrain
converting minis
reading rules
