Here is an idea I had for a mini-expansion that can be use with any map.

Personality Cards

- 5 new personality cards related to a new ancient god (e.g. Apollo)

- each card is related to a different type of good

- price to purchase will be the same as goods needed to build a house in city of that good type (which is also the same price as Minerva cards)

- the action will be to spend any even number of goods of that type to get 3 VPs (for brick, food and tool), 4 VPs (for wine) or 5 VPs (for cloth) for each pair of goods

- end-game scoring will be the same as the action, and needs to be done before converting resources to sestertii

Setup

- first 3 cards mixed with deck I, last 2 cards mixed with deck II

- shuffle those decks and remove at random 3 cards from deck I, 2 cards from deck II (to keep game lenght similiar)

- allow players to check what cards were removed (which could include these new cards)

Re: Idea for next expansion: New card type
My first impression is that this would lead to degenerate strategies if a player had any matching pair of this + the corresponding Minerva card.
You'd just create a pile of a single resource, sell them for points, play Tribune and repeat. Which would probably be enough to win, but extremely boring. But maybe I'm overestimating the power of these cards...

If this is too strong, then you can try adding a limit to the number of pairs of goods that you can trade for VPs.

Hey, don't think up any more ideas!

I have enough trouble keeping up with the expansions as it is. I think we have enough variety now...

Expansions are for players who like variety. You can always stick with the base game.

My suggestion: a bigger box.

Otherwise I won't be able to keep everything in just one box

I have both expansions, and just about can fit everything in the box (with no insert of course).
