Innovation: Artifacts of History has five Relic cards instead of Special Achievements. There are one Relic each for ages 3 through 7, and each represents a 'lost' card from one of the five types (base, and each of the four expansions). Before playing, place these cards face-up next to their matching supply pile (ages 3-7).

Finding a Relic: When you dig an Artifact card of age 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7, will find a relic if it is available. A relic is only available if it is face-up next to its age pile, or if it is in any player's (including your own!) Achievements. When you find a relic, you must transfer it either to your hand, or your achievements.

While in your hand, a Relic behaves like any other card. It can be scored, melded, and so forth. If a Relic card would be returned, instead place it face-up next to its supply pile.

If you are playing without the set the Relic would belong to, it must be transferred to your achievements, not your hand.

Transferring a relic does not trigger Karma effects, nor does it trigger a Figure draw.

A relic taken as an achievement should be placed in your achievements pile face-up, to show that it can be stolen.

---

This change is intended to make Relics a bit more interesting. You can still take it straight up as an achievement, but it's vulnerable to theft if you do so!
