Has anyone tried or at least thought about casting/molding your own bikes and riders? I don't want to buy another full game or two just to get more bikes. I already own two games, 12 bikes, but want a full field.

I've looked on youtube and casting looks relatively easy but then again I am only watching someone elses efforts.

Anyone?

I do know how to mold, but the last copy of the game I saw was $10 and I didn't buy it because I also have three copies!

You might want to look around a little harder.

I only have two copies and the last one was $35.

I would worry about molding the pivot. When last I messed with his sort of thing was 30 years ago and moving joints were tough to cast (for me).

I going to give casting a go.

I am not going to worry about the pivot right now. I just want to see if I can do this consistently with good quality. Then I'll worry about the finer detail.

My concern is destroying a bike.

I've been trying for years to sell my three games for $50 for all three.
Guess it will be to heavy in postage to sell to US.

Looking at this picture:
I'd guess that you might destroy a bike, but more likely you're going to destroy the mold.

You'll need to fill up every nook and cranny with some kind of putty so that the liquid rubber doesn't go into it.

If it does then when you try to pull the bike out of the mold it will rip the rubber and possibly solidify to the bike as well.

Weren't the minis available from somewhere, separate from the game?

They were made exclusively for the game by an Italian model maker (same one that did the early Wings of War minis).

Yes Michael you are probably right. Rather intricate isn't it.

That'll only cost you twice what it would cost to buy a new copy of the game!

I have shapeways motorcycles. Not very detailed, which is ok, but there is no rider.

Oh I just realized Rene, you probably meant have the design created and produced by Shapeways. I got you. Expensive to have something created? Have you had anything created by them?

Maybe someone that has an extra copy could "part it out"? I am interested in the track pieces. The OP wants the bikes. A possible win for everyone? Maybe just three people?

I did mean take a look to see if any was done. But you could contact a modeler and hear if he could do some for you. I just think it's too expensive in the end. And if you buy more full games, you get more tracks.

Ps. I think I have files from a guy who made a lot of circuits. Any interest, sent me a pm with your email.

Martin,
If you can procure a game I will buy the bikes off of you. And same here, I will sell the tracks to you. Deal?

Ok, So I'm leary of the idea of casting my own bikes. I just don't want to damage any bikes.

I took a deep look at a bike the other day and there are some intricate parts (mainly the handlebars) that would probably not cast well. Also, I would have to fill certain areas like the front of cowling, the rear cowling above the rear tire and the windshield area inside, so you could pull the casting away from the mold.

So back to square one; trying to acquire more bikes...
