I'm planning to get this game for me and my girlfriend. We're absolute beginners to it and to the whole CCG stuff.
I don't have much options, so I think I will buy the core set with its 60 cards and the 1st expansion with its 13 cards.
The question is if it's enough for the 2 of us?
Also, do I have to buy 2 of the expansion?

Thanks!

It doesn't quite work like that....

If by The 'core set' you mean 'the Standard Game Set'

It does contain enough cards for two players to learn the rules and have a few games.
However, if by 'the standard game set' you mean a Starter Deck,

then, No:
I'm afraid you won't really be able to play a two player game with that.

Additionally: the '13 cards' for the expansion refers to each -collectible- pack (or starter pack):
the full set of the first expansion contains several hundred cards,
sorted into different themes.

Expeditions of Miskatonic University
Cthulhu Rising
Legends of the Necronomicon.

All of those are considered to be (more or less) the 'base set'.
The "Expansion sets" are also several hundred cards and include
'the Dreamlands' set (very easy to find inexpensively) and 'New Aeon' (almost impossible to find in a playable quantity).

You should be able to find a box of boosters relatively inexpensively
(I believe its 24 packs of 13 cards).
With that, you can build two to four playable decks.

Wow, this is quite a bit of information!
Thanks!

Well, I'm talking about this specific item:
https://boardgamegeek.com/geekmarket/product/628165
As you can see there isn't much info in the description, but according to the seller it's the English edition and contains 60 cards, and the Expeditions of Miskatonic University Booster 1 which contains 13 cards.

Actually, I got a bit confused now...

My guess is that item is one basic starter deck and one basic booster pack,
which is not enough for even one person to play, frankly.

It is a bit confusing, especially if you haven't played a CCG before.

Look for a Standard Game Set, which has two playable 60 card decks.
They are actually pretty good decks: not tournament level, but very good.
Once you have played the game a few times, you can decide if you wish to invest in enough cards to build your decks from scratch.

To add to the above.

Depending on the set. One is just a standard starter. Sounds like that might be what you are looking at. The other is a two player starter.

A CCG is a randomly packed game. So no two starters will have exactly the same cards. You get mostly commons, a bunch of uncommons, and a few rares. Same with the boosters. Random with some commons uncommons and rares each.

The basic starter is not enough really to play two player. The idea was each player had their own starter.
