First of all hello to this forum. I am never have a Pandemic game and want to buy just the base set. But i have got a offer from buddy: used Pandemic Legacy for about 8 USD. Can i play this as original Pandemic (not interested at Campaign)? Can i add expansions from the base game? Is it good deal in yours opinion at all?

Re: Used Pandemic Legacy as original Pandemic
In my opinion, it's not a good idea and I wouldn't want to play someone else Pandemic Legacy's board after the fact. I haven't played Legacy all the way through, but the sticker we've done (plus cards we've destroyed) would make it a different experience then base Pandmeic.

Re: Used Pandemic Legacy as original Pandemic
There several roles that have changed quite a bit from the base game, or missing entirely, not to mention the potential for damaged components. Some of the base upgrades go right on yhe player cards, for example. I could spoil stuff for you, but instead I will just say: this copy will be far from pristine and in some cases unplayable.

Re: Used Pandemic Legacy as original Pandemic
If you just want a cheap Pandemic set, then, well, it's not the worst idea to pick up a used Legacy board. It's not ideal - the board, characters and cards will have stickers all over it that you need to ignore, and some of the non-legacy bits will have been "destroyed" during the course of the campaign as well as all the destruction of purely legacy components.

If you're prepared to work around the stickers, etc and proxy in any missing components, then you can play something that's pretty much vanilla Pandemic (though there are some minor differences on the map).

Re: Used Pandemic Legacy as original Pandemic
Full campaign spoilers below (talked about in general terms) - I'm going to be discussing things to be aware of. You should probably have your buddy walk you through what's part of the base set and what's from Legacy, so you know what to be looking for.

Spoiler (click to reveal)

Base Pandemic comes with 5 roles - you should check that those five roles are still there (Medic, Dispatcher, Operations Specialist/Engineer (I don't recall his name, sorry), Scientist, Researcher). There may be extra stickers on these roles, you can ignore those.

There are two decks of cards - one for the infection, and one for players. Each city should be in both decks of cards. If a city is missing, the game will be unplayable (or, at least, a worse experience). I believe there are 48 cities, 12 of each color. There should also be some special events in the player draw deck - I don't remember which ones are part of the base game, and which got added during the campaign.

The board will likely have stickers on them - these can be removed. Be aware that the printed board is slightly different than the printed board for base pandemic - the city connections have changed in a couple of places. This shouldn't affect the overall experience/game, but if you're a purist, you might care. I'm guessing you're not, though .

Fundamentally, the answer could be yes. There is nothing in Legacy that guarantees that the game will be unusable for base. But there are options players make, and things that happen to players, that might make the answer be "no"

Re: Used Pandemic Legacy as original Pandemic
One risk I'm not seeing discussed: If you try Pandemic, you could like it. If you like Pandemic, you might want to try Pandemic Legacy.

Taking the finished Pandemic Legacy set and using it to play regular Pandemic will give you significant spoilers for Pandemic Legacy, which might be a shame.

Re: Used Pandemic Legacy as original Pandemic
Okay, I am checked the box content and i have all of needed to play the game like original set (except the one Epidemic card, because PL have only 5). Now I have a question about Event Cards: there is two type of cards here (One-time and Funded), so what type of cards should I use and how many in total?

Please could you edit the subject line of this thread to indicate it contains spoilers? You're beginning to discuss things people don't know about when they begin playing Season One.

I think it's doable. I played Legacy and was thinking about asking my friend for the game to use it as a regular Pandemic. About the stickers on the board, you can just cross them, it shouldn't be a problem.
I agree that partly spoils a future Legacy game, but just a few small things.
