Agreed!

Btw, is there a link, Carl, for the episode he mentioned with you? I could not find it on his site. I would like to hear more about the research process than Dean alludes to.

Btw, cutting and pasting from here:
https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/11076-episode-370-de...

...the book list Dean promised to provide in the podcast:

The promised book list:

Looking at the reality of what it is like...
The Sharp End (John Ellis)
Men Against Fire (Marshall)*
The Face of Battle (John Keegan)
The Soldiers Load and the Mobility of a Nation(Marshall)
On Infantry (John English)

*Marshall has caught flak in recent years for the methodology used and claims of making up information, regardless the volume Men Against Fire is invaluable and it would be foolish to avoid reading it in one’s studies.

And How Forces really interact…
Maneuver Warfare Handbook (William Lind)**
Fighting Power (van Creveld)
Supplying War (van Creveld)
Battle Leadership (Adolf von Schnell)
Fighting by Minutes (Robert Leonhard)
The Art of Maneuver (Robert Leonhard)

**A slim volume and pricey on the used market, but absolutely well worth finding.

It hasn't been released yet. It'll be in Bruce's Wild Weasel Podcast and probably in episode 8 (i.e. two podcasts from the last one).

You'll hear me blather on as I try to talk about Last Blitzkrieg as game as history for about 15 minutes. That time went fast and I felt like I barely covered the topic well enough. Being succinct is not my strong suit unlike Dean's.

One note on English's "On Infantry". Dean notes in one of his designer notes to get the first edition of this book. The second edition, what you'll get when searching for this on Amazon, is a slimmer watered down version of the first edition. The first edition has more chapters and covers more topics like the end of WWII, more on inter war development, and each chapter more text and examples. The first edition is no longer in print but I strongly advice on finding and purchasing the first edition.
