Hi There,

I've been playing LOTR LCG for a while now and i would say it is my most played game in my rather modest collection. Whenever i build new decks obtained from the web i struggle with them learning the new combos and end up reverting to my goto standard deck.

What i am asking is, do you have a card combo which always seems to be included in your deck and has a high success rate across the scenarios?

My favourie one is to use for card draw/searching:
Hero Beravor (Core Set)
Master of the Forge (Shadow and Flame)
Imladris Stargazer (Foundations of Stone)

Wouldn't you need two cards working in tandem to be a combo? For example, Sneak attack + Gandalf (which is an amazingly powerful combo and also one of my favourites)?

Also, I love card draw as well and I really enjoyed building my decks around that theme. Pasting my card draw decks below (I play two handed). For reference, the decks were built using cards from the base set and the first cycle (which is all I have).

Recently I started using Born Aloft and Gandalf, which is not as powerful as Sneak Attack, but If you have a recourse booster act almost the same way .

i am still currently playing my self campaign driven mode.. for about 1 year now i think.. which is:

using 4 handed (4 player set-up)
started with base set - use all 30 cards each for sphere
played the 3 scenarios in core set

then..
add hunt for gollum expansion.. add all the cards in that expansion to the 4 decks.. then play the scenario

then.. add the next expansion.. then add the card to the deck.. and play the scenario

then.. do the same thing again for succesive expansions.... until i got the 50 card deck minimum for each of my 4 mono sphere decks.. then for each next expansion.. i edit the deck to maintain the 50 card deck each...

and so on.... according to the release dates of the expansions.. (this include all saga and non-saga expansion and nightmare expansion according to the release their dates)

right now i got 4 mono sphere decks. and currently playing The Road Darkens

and this is my favorite nice combo i got and it really works well in a 4 handed solo..

yes it works! the card says only once per game.. but yes only once PER PLAYER so you can activate it up to 4 times per game per player..
i am using the vilya for elrond and also Celebrian's Stone for aragorn to give my lore deck spirit icon.. to be able to play that desperate alliance.. I always use that combo 95% of all my games.. and most of the time i use it 3 or 4 times per game and the four decks have lots of doom cards so i often activate it at its fullest.

The "Steward of Gondor" combo that helps give you 3 resources a turn is a pretty good one.

In my current rangers deck:
Elladan and Elrohir, give them Rivendell Blade, Elladan gets as many Dunedain marks as I can give, Elrohir gets as many Dunedain Warnings.
I tend to end up with the ability to take on 3 or 4 medium sized enemies (4 HP and 2 defense or any total of 6 (or sometimes 7 if I have a second Mark on Elladan)) Elrohir defends against them (Usually to no damage) then Elladan just cuts them down. Had one where there were 3 enemies and they each got a shadow card enemy that was put into the staging area, I had just enough resources by then to take down the first 3 then the next round the 3 that engaged me from the staging area. It was epic.
Playing solo and Aragorn (lore) is the other ranger, I use card pull cards to get the attachments out so he ends up with Sword that was broken and the stone so he ends up 3 spheres and questing for 5 by himself and boosts all my allies and Elladan/Elrohir by 1 willpower as well. I'll have to get the deck posted here sometime soon.

"Four times per game" is certainly a creative interpretation of the words "once per game".

Possible errata material on a Loragorn reprint I guess, but Ian's interpretation seems fair given the extra restriction text on Tactics Eowyn "Limit once per game for the group"

And it's not like there aren't other "crazy" official interpretations when it comes to the cards (will never not be bitter about Stand and Fight and Gandalf!)...

Dwarfs!
Dwarfs have lots of combos.

We Are Not Idle + Lure of Moria
with just only one ally this combo profits, but the more the merrier!

Sneak Attack or To me! O my kinsfolk! or A Very Good Tale
+ any ETB Dwarf:
Fili another free Dwarf in the board permanently
Kili another free Dwarf in the board permanently
Bifur conditional card draw
Ered Nimrais Prospector shenanigans
Glóin conditional resources
Miner of the Iron Hills Condition removal
Erebor Hammersmith attachment ressurgence

Any mining effect like Ered Nimrais Prospector or King Under the Mountain or A Very Good Tale or Zigil Miner + "free stuff" like Ered Luin Miner or Hidden Cache
self explanatory

Also, Honorable Mention regarding all written above: Tome of Atanatar

YES! You play it on your Thorin or Dain and you can trigger any shenanigan effect and use it with all the other shenanigans ETB Dwarfs have.

Some of those are "enters play" triggers, but some are "is played from your hand", and won't trigger off the "put into play" events. Or am I missing something?

You're right. But Sneak Attack triggers the "played from your hand" clause. cool

No, it doesn't. Sneak Attack says "put into play".

Alas, he's correct. Sneak Attack doesn't trigger "play from hand", neither does A Very Good Tale or To Me! O My Kinsfolk!

So the dwarves with "enter play" abilities are only these three:
Longbeard Orc Slayer [Le4] (1 damage to each orc)
Miner of the Iron Hills [Lo2] (remove condition)
Ered Nimrais Prospecter [Lo2] (discard 3 from deck, shuffle card from discard into deck)

Humm, ok. My bad then.

I checked on the FAQ and the text "put into play" overwrites the "play from hand" clause from Sneak Attack.

What "play from hand" clause? Sneak Attack has nothing to do with playing from hand (other than, of course, the fact that you will generally be playing Sneak Attack itself from your hand). Playing a card (as opposed to putting it in play) means paying its resource cost, which you don't do with Sneak Attack, and, in the case of allies and attachments, is done during the planning phase.
