What are the current "Tournament Rules" and what is the community currently playing? My best friend and I are going to play a both sides match and I wanted to know what the format is currently.

The Tournament Rules can be found in this thread on the designer's website.

I have a question on a related note. I'm going to play this in a 4 player game next month, I hope, and I was originally going to play with the rules from the box. Which rules would be better to use? The next question that naturally follows is how come you came to that decision. The 4 of us have never played this specific A&A game and 2 of the 4 haven't play any A&A game in over a decade. Thank you.

It really depends on what kind of game you're looking for. Using the box rules, the game tends to grind on for several hours, which is very thematic, but can tax patience and time constraints. Using the Tournament rules, the game is much faster paced, but people who like to fight to the last man may not like the economic and political collapse rules.

Thank you for that information. I've decided to go with the rules from the box as this is the first game for us. If we find it too much of a grind, the tournament rules could be the second game we play. I'm looking forward to playing this game finally.
