If Betrayal at Calth is any indication, there will be several cheap game component auctions up on eBay over the next few months.

Just to note: Lots of Calth games turned up because people were buying multiple boxes for their armies (I know of people ordering three or four boxes).

Gorechosen models are useful for AoS armies, but people aren't going to need loads of them (as they are heroes), and there are only four models in the box anyway. So I think there will be less "game only" boxes floating around for this title.

I may, of course, be completely wrong.

I was looking at it from the point of cost. $60 (or less) for $120 worth of miniatures. I think that alone will entice a few people into buying it just for the miniatures.

I wasn't implying that there was going to be a glut of them, just that the OP will likely have a choice of several different auctions, several being more than a few but less than a bunch.

Ha. Yeah, I'm sure there will be a few, I just thought it was worth mentioning that there wouldn't be the huge amounts we saw for Calth, so might want to snap one up quick if you see it.

(I don't remember seeing any "game only" copies of Lost Patrol kicking around in the UK auctions, but then, that was the "return" of a classic, and those models weren't such a good deal. I have a sneaky feeling people were more likely to buy that one for the tiles than the generic marines and 'stealers.)

Not only was Lost Patrol not that great of a deal for the miniatures, but I think there are far less people who need both scout and genestealer miniatures. They may need one or the other, but likely not both, therefore most of the games were likely sold to people who actually wanted the game as opposed to the miniatures.

In contrast, Gorechosen should be a must buy for Chaos/Khorne players who don't already own the miniatures.

Very true. However, I've heard a lot of rumblings from Khorne players complaining because there are no new miniatures in the box. They are all heroes that have been around beforehand, and which a lot of Khorne players probably already have.

I don't play AoS myself, and I would be happy to be completely wrong for the sake of the people who want the game without miniatures.

On the plus side, if miniature-free versions don't show up, at least a complete copy of Gorechosen isn't such a painful kick in the wallet as something like Calth.

I got mine for $50 shipped free. I would suggest the OP buy the game, and if the miniature assembly is too much, put them on eBay and get some of your money back.
