Hello!

I'm new to the Battlecon system and having a lot of fun with the PnP version I constructed. I found it here,
https://worldofindines.com/bconline/index.php/user/login, under the download section.

So I came here and wondered if anyone has places where I can find more bonus content before I make my decision to buy the base game. Maybe some more complex characters to enjoy more of the depth?

On that note, which set is the best? From my research, Indines seems the most popular. The whole line just seems a little confusing to me.

I can't answer the first part of your question that well, as I'm pretty unfamiliar with the PnP content.

However, in terms of the set that is best - that's a really tough question to answer. The one constant with each of the sets is that they each offer a lot of value for the content.

Fate is probably the easiest price-point to get into Battlecon with, offering 10 characters. War (remastered) is a step above that, with 18, and Devastation is the most expensive of the bunch, but offers 30 fighters and a crap-ton of other modes.

If you're still on the fence about how deep you want to dive in, and are looking for more complexity, I would recommend checking out Fate and potentially picking that up as a next step.

Edit: Also, when you mentioned "Indines" being popular, that's probably not the correct term for identification. Each game in the series is ***** of Indines" - so when I mention War/Fate/Devasatation, those are the identifying terms that are typically used. Also of note is that "Trials" of Indines is currently on Kickstarter.

I believe here you can find two more extra characters, Cadenza and Khadath:

I had similar issues when getting in to BattleCON. I bought Devastation first, and it has a ton of content. Since then, I have purchased everything available for BattleCON.

With that being said, I have seen many recommend War of Indines, and that would probably be what I would recommend. It isn't as expensive as Devastation and has some revised fighters and starting positions. I have rarely played the modes other than duels.

Of course, you could always get in on the Kickstarter that is currently going for Trials. You will just have to wait a while to get it.

With the trouble that I had deciding what to buy when getting into BattleCON, I have thought about dabbling into the media creation and actually covering all of the different BattleCON sets in a video series, to help those wanting to jump in. I haven't set aside the time to do it and I don't know if a task like that is the best to start with on video content.

I think this is a good idea, honestly - as awesome as Marco is, having more BattleCON videos and perspectives would be great!

I saw this link too, and actually printed the rulebook from this one. However, while going through the tutorial at the beginning of the rules, I noticed that a lot of the cards in the tutorial were different from my own. I then found the official rulebook on Level 99's site,https://www.dropbox.com/s/quj17l9s89bvsws/Devastation_Rulebo.... This one has the same tutorial, but it matches the cards I have.

The rulebook on Level 99's site is the newest version to my knowledge, so I concluded that the cards in this PnP were heavily changed before final production. This makes me think the other characters on this link have the same problem. Can you confirm this?

Even if they are changed, would it really make a huge gameplay difference? Could I still play them without running into balance issues?

I can dig out the cards later, but you only really want Malandrax and Joal from that link. The other two have newer PNPs. Also, the card text and numbers are all on the wikia, which gives another way to proxy or compare to final values.
