1914 is actually in production and we will air freighting some copies for Kickstarter backers and releasing some advance copies of the game at Spiel in Essen 13-16th October 2016 – in a few weeks time. The full retail copies will be taking a slower route by sea and will be on general retail release end of November/early December. We have a number of “Essen collection only “ pledges with free shipping if you want to collect your pledge at Essen.

So, if you would like to take advantage of a discounted price, a bunch of exclusive stretch goal goodies and the chance to be playing this exciting game in a matter of a few weeks, way ahead of everyone else, please pledge away!

So if a regular pledge is 35£ before shipping, why is the Essen "free shipping" pledge 40£?

Reading the blurb on the KS page, they say the games will be air-freighted to Essen whilst other copies will be on a boat. So it looks like you're paying for the air freight to get the game earlier. So there's no such thing as a free lunch, and Milton Friedman might have added that there's no such thing as free shipping either! :-)

Then they shouldn't call it "free shipping". Maybe they mean free shipping for them. The same question was asked by someone in the KS comments and they never answered it there either.

It does seem that their language was successful in allowing everyone to figure out what they meant.
