Hello,

This is weird, for such a simple game the rules are horrible. I can't understand the rules after reading them in different languages.

What is a Set?
3 different and 1 same?
3 same and 1 different?
4 different?
Anything else?

For each category (shape, number, shading, color) the three cards must be all the same or all different. You evaluate each category independently.

3 same 1 different, 2 same 2 different, 1 same 3 different, or 4 different, which would mean none of the three cards share any characteristics.

4 same wouldn't be a set, cuz that would just be three of the same card.

Sometimes it's easier to consider what *isn't* a set :
A group of three cards is not a set if, for at least one of the criteria, two cards share an attribute and the other doesn't.

E. g. "Two green and one red" => Not a set.

You can practice a bit with the Daily Set puzzle at this link:
http://setgame.com/set/puzzle

A SET is THREE cards in which each of the attributes, when considered individually, are all the same or are all different.

There are FOUR attributes: shape, number, shading and color.

Each attribute (shape, number, shading and color)is considered INDIVIDUALLY and is not dependent on the other attributes.

When considering the shape attribute, the cards must be ALL the same or ALL different.

When considering the color attribute, the cards must be ALL the same or ALL different.

When considering the number of items attribute, the cards must be ALL the same or ALL different.

When considering the shading attribute, the cards must be ALL the same or ALL different.

So, when you look at the cards, to make a set, you can't have two shaded and one not shaded... or one diamond, and two ovals. Each attribute has to be ALL the same or ALL different.

for example:

Each Row is a SET, here's how.
Row 1- number same, shading same, shape different, color different
Row 2- number same, shading same, shape different, color same
Row 3- number different, shading different, color different, shape same
Row 4- number different, shading different, color same, shape same
Row 5- number different, shading different, color different, shape different.

Row 5 is what I like to call an "anti-set", ALL four of the attributes are different!

Hope this helps!
