Thanks for the rent-free space in your head. Would have been nice if you'd cleaned it up a bit before you rented it out, though.

Having more sex makes men more likely to believe in God.

So they've found that some of the reason people are theists is because a chemical in their brains and not because of the existence of god at all, interesting.

Might explain this as well.

Most people keep to the religion they were born in. I think the restrictions on sex and masturbation found in some religions could have arisen to help keep people in that religion. If they increase in spirituality and religiosity they are probably more likely to try out a new religion.

On the other hand, this kind of study needs replication before being believed.

As a good atheist, I always yell out "OH LACK OF DEITY, OH LACK OF DEITY".

Actually, as was once pointed out to me, it is one of life's little ironies that people oft sit in church thinking about sex, and then go have sex while invoking god.

“Dwarfs were not a naturally religious species, but in a world where pit props could crack without warning and pockets of fire damp could suddenly explode they'd seen the need for gods as the sort of supernatural equivalent of a hard hat. Besides, when you hit your thumb with an eight-pound hammer it's nice to be able to blaspheme. It takes a very special and strong-minded kind of atheist to jump up and down with their hand clasped under their other armpit and shout, "Oh, random-fluctuations-in-the-space-time-continuum!" or "Aaargh, primitive-and-outmoded-concept on a crutch!”

Hmm. Stuck w/ just the press release, it asks questions about spirituality, but not directly belief in God.

That is to say, some people would feel that a belief in the interconnectedness of all people and things is spirituality, while not espousing the divine.

I dunno!

Interesting find though.

Although some people take it that as a "haha drug addicts," LSD is typically talked about as engendering spiritual experiences.

I assume it would have a considerably stronger effect compared head to head w/ oxytocin.

Yes, that is the point.

spiritual experiences seem linked with chemical imbalances in the brain. I suppose you could say god is a "medical aberration".

Yes, that's the dismissive take on it I was referencing.

Sorry but what other take is there, a chemical (not sex, an artificially induced chemical reaction) causes spirituality. That is what the repoty says.
