Last month I joked about this month's requirement becoming copy&paste ..
But, nah ... However, I'd like to give you a requirement wich is close to that. Or at least to part of that. Phonetically close.
Ok, it is not close at all.
But tasty!

This month's requirement will be:

Pasta

Remember: The requirement is just a requirement - not necessarily a theme! It's up to you, how you involve it in your game!

Happy designing and kind regards,
Kai

p.s.:

In the behaviour rules (see link to basic rules thread above) I've written:
Quote:
Please create a second posting in that thread to present your creation.

Please do present your game along with a short description in a posting. The reason I ask you to do this is simple: Creating geeklist entries becomes easier for me because from time to time copy-n-pasting from PDFs produces unexpected results (such as copying only odd symbols into the clipboard ..)
Thanks a lot

I had a basic concept for a mining game, I was wondering if I could fit the requirement to it. At first glance, i thought "how would you fit pasta to mining?" But now I have the perfect pun for it so I am inspired to fit it in. How does Miner-Strone sound. A game about pasta miners in the mountains of italy. Because that's where pasta really comes from

Pasta? Sounds good! I don't know how to convert things into a pdf from word... but I can probably find it out. Show you what I have in 24 hrs!

Ya I found that out very quickly. Not a hard thing to figure out woot.

How do I add it to the geek database though? Because that is how we turn em in right? I still have a lil bit of adjusting to do, will probably have to wait for tomorrow to have someone help me playtest again but just wondering.

Nah .. just load them up into a dropbox or so and link them here in this thread.

Creating an entry here at the 'Geek would be too much for this contest..

Kind regards,
Kai

Still, its a good habit to get into. You never know how far you will go with the design.

According to the site guidelines you should only be adding games to the database when it is basically finished.

Why is it so quiet in October?
Is it the noodles?

I am starting in a few hours.
I have had the idea for a month.
But waiting to the last minute is what I do.
It's a dexterity game using chopsticks and noodles.
Since I use chopsticks almost everyday, it seems appropriate.

I had thought this would be a nice month, mostly free of contests, where I could work on refining some of my older games... but then I ended up doing four RPG contests... so there went all my time.

Noodle Cup

How good are you with chopsticks?
In Noodle Cup you have to pick up a colored noodle out of a bowl and drop it on to a cup card of the same color.

36 cup cards (9 x 4 colors)
1 set of chopsticks
1 small bowl
60 Noodles (6 - 3 inch, 6 - 6 inch, 3 - 9 inch) of each color
-use colored string or thin shoe laces

Set Up
• Mix up all the noodles at put them in the bowl
• Do a noodle grab to see who goes first, if you are only person to get a long noodle, you go first. Repeat, if a tie.
• Deal 6 cards to each player
• Put the 6 cards face up in a random order in the form of a rectangle. (2 rows of 3, like a 6 pack. Play
• Give the starting player the chopsticks.
They will grab a noodle from the bowl.
Drop the noodle on the cards. If you touch a cup of the same color only, you get the noodle.

3 inch noodle - 1 point - must touch one cup of the same color only
6 inch noodle - 2 points - must touch 2 cups of the same color only or run through the same cup twice only.
9 inch noodle - 3 points - must touch 3 cups of the same color only or run through the same cup 3 times only.

If the noodle touches a cup of another color, no points.
• Pass chopsticks to the next player
• Play continues clockwise around the table.
• Game is over when someone gets 8 points.
Each player will get one more try.
Not included the first player to get 8.

Not really that strange - participation tends to come in cycles.

Things definitely start dropping off near the last three months of the year.

I had my idea for a month.
One day before I was going to work on my game
I saw Jason Levine from the dice Tower on an Essen Podcast
He said he played an great game called Spaghetti
About pulling noodles out of a pile.
I almost changed my idea
But I pressed on and hopefully it will be different enough
Spaghetti has meatballs.
mine doesn't

Yeah ... this month somehow has been ... weak.

So it becomes a head to head race between our veteran Hack and the newcomer Kyle.

Voting list is online:
24 hour contest - October 2014

May the odds be ever in your favour!

Kind regards,
Kai

You're welcome! I love all the contests, so I keep track of most of them, including all the contests on RPGG.

The board game contests are usually mentioned in this thread: Current Contest Info, but I notice nothing has been updated since August!

This one is up to date: PnP contests and winners

PS Carolyn's list didn't include the current wargame contest, but they tend to be very specialised.
