Hey I have no money to go to um that Board Gaming Society in Ohio but I was wondering does anyone have a small group around Columbus area that doesn't mind a newcomer? I have like 6 or 7 board games I have not counted and I own 3 RPG systems. My dad often works till 4 or 5pm and has saturday and sundays off and is for most part only way I get around.

Take a look at beyond the board in Dublin on 161, near 270. The shop is great and has regular board game nights and RPG get togethers. I go there regularly to play ashes rise of the Phoenixborn.

BtB has regular board game nights and a large board game library to demo with. I like the guard tower, but if you want to make connections, get in some pick up games, and try stuff you don't own yet, I think it is the best place for board games outside of that certain society.

As to if it is closer, that's for you to decide. I live within a couple miles of Guard Tower (south) and I regularly drive past it to go up to BtB in Dublin. You don't have to fight warmachine, 40k and heroclix players for table space and they have that game library.

I think Tuesdays and Thursdays are regular board game nights. I'd call to double check. And I'd avoid going there before a big Magic release event. It does get cramped on those nights.

I was thinking bout checking it out this afternoon but there seems to be a kinda wake I'm debating whether it be rude to go today.

Andd I like Guard Tower but they do seem focused heavily on those games you mentioned and frankly no Malifaux players play the rpg portion of Malifaux which sucks... Hopefully BTB is nicer then Soldiery they seem hellbent on PF/DnD as it's often the only thing that's played on 'casual gaming nights'

Packrat comics in Hilliard also has a pretty good games selection and board gamer nights.
