Hi all,

Jan/feb 1942

Weather: 5, 9 and last one unknown (rain in the med at least).

Axis win initiative despite a +1 allied whi woukd have won ties as well.

Germans take a land and send some reinforcements to the east. Slowly advancing in Greece and setting up camps in the mountains near suez again.

Italy sails its fleet and with anti air -2/5 they shoot down an english navel bomber (Vildebeest 1933) in the eastern med at the cost of an aborted Roma.
Subs fail to find and the western med sees an Italian fleet but no CW presence.

Japan invades India just above Cocanda with a division and a militia.

Allies:

USSR kill a German mountain corps in the caucasus and loose a cav division. All inf banners are already on the board so no new guard banners at least, yeaah I guess.

CW sails it fleets, trying to battlethrough in the western med. Italy sinks the New Castle and the Cleopatra at the cost of a damaged Impero and aborted cruiser. The remaining CW fleet gets through.

Another fleet tries to battlethrough the remaining two Italian ships. The Italians find but a 1 CW roll gives 0 suprise points. 2 Italian battle cruisers get damaged vs 2 aborts on british battleships. The CW have cleared the western med.

St Vincent sees two damaged CW cruisers vs an aborted Italian sub. Lots of action in the med forces seem to be in balance at the moment. Dealing and receiving blows I think I'm at the short end of this trade.

Second axis impulse: weather 9

Germans now in position to attack last mountain line before Athens when weather turns fine. A German bomber kills the greek fighter but misses the ground strike. A navel bomber gets shot down in Russia. They also close the Suez with the Hamburg militia, Japan is very content with that news.

Italy rails an art to the Suez front and get two subs damaged when the CW carriers at St Vincent find.

Japan takes two minor ports in India and send some reinforcements as well. With the Suez closed Japan should be able to gain some ground in India. Japan has 2 corps(1 mech 1 mil) a inf div and a hq in India vs a british mec, garrison, territorial and the Delhi militia.

2 more japanese corps ready to go to India next turn. A para corps with planes is on its way which should aid with attacks on Bombay. Japan has total air superiority (no CW air force at all) with 3 bombers and a fighter on its way. Navel superiority as well with only some light cruisers available for the CW. The plan is to siege Calcutta and taking Delhi and Bumbay first. An engineer is arriving in two turns which should make capturing Calcutta possible. CW reinforcements must be build in India and that will take some time. Only an inf (5-3) on the track.

The plan is to take India and then go after the USA in Nov/Dec if we are not at war by then already. It is ambitious but if it succeeds the entire navel focus can be on the Americans.

Allies:

CW takes a land action to reposition its Suez front. Some units are os and Wavell is brought from the Libyan front to reflip.

In India they move some units to try to maintain the beachhead. And they take over Brussel from the French. This is threathening the Italians at the most northen end of the west front. The airstrike at the italians miss but they do shoot down a German fighter. In the eastern med two italian cruisers are damaged.

Axis impulse 3:

An attack at suez goes 2-1 killing the Milan militia and a turkish motorised corps. In greece von Leeb leads a head on assault in the rain om the Athens militia in the mountains. 2-1 the hex is taken but an Italian and german inf are gone. Heavy losses but Athens is within reach.

Japan moves its new forces in India to kill the Indian territorial with massive air and navel support turning a 9-3 across the river attack into a 21-3 +1 for the flipped territorial. First major victory in India turning the balance of forces even more jn Japans favor. Another corps is brought to India and it is clear that Japan is here to stay. Delhi is within reach and undefended, moving units to block the advance will open up the road to Bombay. Only Calcutta is firmly in CW hands (a reinforcement will make it 10 doubled to 20).

Turn ends shifting initiative to +2 allies.

Mar/Apr 1942:

Allies win initiative weather 10

CW take a combined and the Queens bring a 6-3 canadian inf to Athens. The milita had been rebuilt as well so all of a sudden Athens has a defence of 9 with the 5 mountain unit in the hex next to it. Von Leeb is not pleased, this will be harder then expected. The CW also gives up the hard fought desert hex on the east side of the Suez canal. Putting more bodies behind the canal but bringing the CW presence on the east side back to 1 hex.

The USSR retreats behind the Don river. Creating a massive no mans land for army group south. The French groundstrike the anti tank in Liege.

Figuring out the annual force pools had been time consuming so we called it a night at this point.

Next report I'll try to get some pictures in again.

Those navel bombers often get too focused on their mission and don't see danger approaching.
