"If the active kingdom controls the Ark, (it) may be moved to another land of that kingdom." I assume that movement is not like many other games where you have a fixed movement rate, but does this rule mean you can move the Ark to ANY other land you control, even if the land is distant, with many other occupied lands between them? In short, does the land you move the Ark to have to be adjacent to the land it starts in, or even contiguous with other lands you control? Or can the Ark just "jump" from one land to any other land controlled by the active kingdom/player?

Contiguous: Yes. Adjacent: No. I think it is very clear from the rules text. A Kingdom by definition is contiguous, the Hebrew kingdom being an exception, but it is covered in the dot below.

These are my suggestion for strict ruling. The language style is yanked from other authors, hopefully native English speakers.

A friendly land is a land occupied by units of the revealed Kingdom (one of 6 unit types).
A friendly land is a cluster.
If a cluster is adjacent to a friendly land, their union is a cluster.
If a cluster is adjacent to a cluster, their union is a cluster.
A portion is a cluster which is not part of a larger cluster.

There are 3 types of Kingdoms, Heathen, Hebrew and Canaanite. They have different definitions:
A Heathen type Kingdom:
The unit type is either one of Invader-purple, Invader-gray, Neighbour-olive or Neighbour-blue.
If the start-land is not a friendly land, it is made into a friendly land (see below).
The Kingdom is the portion where the start-land is a part.
The Canaanite Kingdom:
The unit type is Invader-purple.
The Kingdom is any one of the available portions.
If there is no available portion, Canaanites regard Kedesh as its start-land, and Kedesh is made into a friendly land.
A Hebrew type Kingdom:
The unit type is either one of Northern type or Southern type.
The Kingdom is the set of all portions.
If the set of portions is empty, the start-land is made into a friendly land.
If the set consists of 2 or more portions, the Kingdom is described as 'split'.

See Page index to the rules and some helpful definitions. So you can move the Ark within a portion.

Any land in the Kingdom. It may NOT jump over other lands occupied by other nations (including the other Hebrew Kingdom).
