I would like my Event cards and my Adventure cards to have the same back so I don't know when an Event card is coming up (missed opportunity in the new edition imho).

Can anyone recommend a good opaque sleeve that I could use?

(I have the Portal Edition.

Thanks

Having some information about upcoming cards by seeing their card backs come up in the deck was a conscious design decision. Taking that out of the game will crank up the (balanced and playtested?) difficulty.

But knowing something is coming wrecks the realistic uncertainty of being shipwrecked.

I'm (probably) bigger than you, but that doesn't make me any better. It's what's inside that counts.

Knowing that your snakebite is getting worse, and you're going to have to rest more in the near future, or that the animal that has been stalking camp is getting more daring and might attack soon, or any number of other adventures are being resolved is very realistic.

The whole point is that you can see something coming that relates to your earlier actions.

Using opaque sleeves would ruin this aspect of the game.

I do not know what sleeves would work well for your game.

Would anyone who regularly sleeves their games like to weigh in on what sleeves would fit well rather than the merits of doing so?

I use the Fantasy Flight standard card game size: 2.5 in x 3.5 in (white sleeves, but any color should be fine) for this very reason and it works well. Standard American or Standard European might be a better fit, if you want the exact match.

I do NOT want to know exactly when those effects are about to happen.

To each his own. I was in the same boat some 4 years ago. Even made a thread about it. After learning it was by design, I settled and accepted.

I just draw the bottom card as I like the surprise and added difficulty.
