Etiquette

The game is supposed to be fun, so not too many rules...

When posting your move, please BOLD your Empire name at the top, and BOLD your actual move.

Including how much power you spent, how much power you have left, and who is to take the next move helps a lot.

If you want to include "flavour text", please do so in ITALICS.

Discussion with other players should be in normal text. All discussion to be "above the table" - talk about it on this thread, not privately by geekmail, email, or whatever. Having said that, making and breaking alliances is a big part of this game, so have at it!

Generally, it is easiest to refer to other players by their Empire name. So, Sky, Storm, etc.

An example move might look something like:

Spend 1 power. Place a Barbarian next to the Shrine on Kylerela.

Interrupts

There are a number of ways to play "out of turn", either through Runes or special abilities. Try to play these interrupts as promptly as you can, and be patient with others who go "oh, after XXX's last move, I want to..."

We'll roll back moves only if absolutely necessary.

Map Updates and Runes

I'll handle map updates, and I'll send details of a webpage to allow you to draw Runes.

Play Order

Seating order is:

Sky > Chaos > Storm > Darkness

Sky as first player chooses whether play goes to left or right.

For those coming from Cthulhu Wars, note the differences section in the rulebook. Major changes are:

- No unlimited battle
- Move is 1 to activate an area and any or all of your units in that area can move.
- Build buildings anywhere, units must be recruited at a building.
- You do NOT need 6 Gifts to win.

Also note that some of the advice on Storm is now wrong. The change to Inferiority Complex means you want LOTS of VP, so you can always afford to pay for more Power.

My fellow deities. I have a proposal for you.

Let's not let Sun God out of Hell. Call me crazy, call me Chaos but hear me out.

As soon as Yelm gets up, he gets an extra 4* Power per round and he gets 2 Runes and he's just going to start blowing up our junk with sunspears. We let him out he'll have 3 gifts, 2 runes and extra 5 Power round there and then.

Let him stay until the Chaos Rift closes when he can get out any time. On the plus side for the rest of you, but not me, he's going to be really motivated to get that rift closed so he'll be doing the heavy lifting.

Of course he offers Great Decrees. But think about it. He needs to give them anyway to get gifts. So he can give us free Decrees. Why do anything for them? He's going to have to give them to someone and I can bet you he won't give them to me because he'll be mad at me for starting this.

So what say you? I will promise not to free him if Storm and Darkness promise the same. Just think. He'll give you Great Decrees for doing nothing. Doesn't get better than that.

Let me further sweeten the pot. Not only will you get the two lovely decrees (2 power and a rune, right there!) but so long as you don't assault me, I shall not assault you, nor shall I Sunspear you. The other two (whoever they turn out to be) shall be the targets for my Phoenixes.

As for *needing* to give out the decrees. Yes, once they are a nice boost to my Gifts, and I shall probably hand them out anyway. But Noblesse Oblige nets me one Rune for two power. Nice, but hardly vital. I'll take the Gifts, then leave the decrees untouched if I need to.

Ah I see that Old Yellow Face is trying it on. Here's what I think. He's not going to give me any decrees and I pledge not to let him go free.

Storm and Dark, you are his oldest rivals. If he stays in Hell he won't have the Power to Sunspear you anyway. If you two stay united then he'll undoubtedly give you a decree each anyway so he can get his gifts.

And here's a thing. I'm Chaos, I need to kill stuff. If he gets Yelm out he can turtle so well that I can't touch his junk. If I can't kill the little yellow guys well, I'm sure you can see where I'm going.

Let's keep him in Hell for a while. It's the best place for him. After all, he already has an archer and a temple in the skydome. We all know he's gunning for Shannasse in order to lock down the surface world. Keeping him in Hell will stop him getting out of hand. For a while at least.

All it needs is for Storm and Dark to trust each other for a while.
