I was trying to remember the term for this game mechanism. Is there a specific term for this?

A game lists that it is playable from 2 - 6 players, lets say...

But, in order for two players to play, there has to be a third 'ghost player'...or 'neutral player'. Basically...this is another player, but there isn't any real life person attached to it.

What is the name of this? I always called it the 'ghost player'.

Bot? Particularly if this "player" takes actions, as opposed to some games where they might just have points to compete with or remove things from the game.

In tradtional card games, it was called 'dummy hand', so that's what I've always called it.

The 'Robots' came out and on occasion I called it Robot.

But, I hear a lot of people refering it to Neutral Player AI.
