Way back in the mid 80s I managed to acquire a game about the German elections in the early 1930s which led to the rise of Hitler. I can't even remember what it was called, but it came in a ziplock bag and looked like it'd been photocopied on light card stock. Definitely not a mass distribution game. The closest thing I can find to it on BGG is Weimar: German Politics 1929-1933. In any case, memories of this game got me to thinking, what is the most obscure game, one which absolutely no one has ever heard of, in your collection, past or present? Bonus points if the game can't even be found on BGG.

I assume you don't still have this game?

I'm going to guess it is Stellar Wars, which has 10 owners listed. Of course it is in the database -- I added it. :)

Runner up is probably Galactic War, another obscure space-combat game, with 44 owners.

They are both still in my collection. Of course.

[edit] I also own GolfMania, mentioned later. [/edit]

There used to be 6 or 7 games on BGG for which I was the only recorded owner, but there is still The Game of Football:

.

I've never seen another copy of the game, never seen one on eBay, and the only information on the interwebs that I see is what I've added here on BGG. To add to the puzzle, the actual physical copy of the game that I have here doesn't appear to be a prototype, it seems to be a manufactured product.

Honorable mention goes to a game that is only moderately obscure but that I am a little more fond of, and that is my copy of Six with tiles that are bakelite rather than wood.

Men of Destiny

It's an old presidential trivia game that we played a lot back in the 1970's. To this day, whenever my oldest sister visits, she requests to play it and always wins.

Queries 'n Theories. Players use linguistic elicitation to infer a generative grammar. That description means nothing to most people, but as a professional linguist, I simply had to have this game as soon as I learned of its existence. There's a decent chance that I may adapt it into a learning activity for my classroom at some point in the future.

Probably Torches & Pitchforks. And I only still own it because I co-designed it. I only know one other person who owns it that didn't buy it because of me.

I have a game that is so obscure I cannot find a google image of it. Published by Fusilier Games of Aberdeen, Scotland, around 1977 or 1978. A map that appears to be silk screened, if I understand that printing technology correctly. Box very flimsy. The publishers admit frankly of its "amateur physical limitations".

I chose Why as the only thing I wanted from the stuff my grandfather left when he died. I've never seen it anywhere else.

It's a roll and go with memory aspects and a little player interaction. It's not a great game but I still have the memories of playing it with my grandfather which makes it so much more then just a game to me.

I traded for Thinking Man's Golf earlier this year simply to have it in my collection. It looks great, I love golf and it's a nice novelty to show off. I'll probably play it one of these days...

I'm not sure. Here is one possibility, which I picked up from the publisher at a local con:

Acceptable Losses (4 owners, including me)

I used to own The Ten Condiments by the same company. Number of owners dropped from 1 down to zero as I updated the status from owned to used to own.

Heir to Europa, great trick-taking game.

Tofu Kingdom, deduction game that's surprisingly difficult.

Star Girl, love letter variant.

Those are my most obscure ones.
